Paul Pogba

Do I think he could provide a useful role in our team? Yes, as depth and rotation. If he did come he’d get the same support from me as any other signing.

My point is he’ll likely be a first choice starting player for other top teams in Europe whereas we are stacked in midfield with better players that suit and understand our system better than he does.

We’ve seen it consistently how it takes players a year to settle into our style. Pogba is 29, will be 30 during next season.

We will have to see but I’d be very surprised if either party decide this is a good move when push comes to shove.
Ultimately, it matters little what Pogba wants. If City aren't interested, he goes elsewhere, simples. However, if we are interested, our scouting network will have done their homework on his stats, attitude, home life & we'll also have seen him play in the flesh multiple times.

We'll have factored these points & his age into any approaches to Pogba, or any received from his camp. We've got Fern leaving & question marks over Gundog, so regardless a CDM position will become available at City come the summer.

Pogba knows Manchester & the rivalry between the 2 clubs. He's loathed by many Rags, so they can't loathe him any more can they? Right now he's obviously thinking more about his future than the Rags'.

On another note, I know several Rags who've been honest enough to admit their problems are about the club & not just Pogba not performing to expectations. They say NONE of their squad are currently performing at the levels expected.

ManUre have the most expensively assembled squad in football history, but in reality can any of us actually name a player that we'd buy from them this summer? Based on current form, I couldn't.

Pogba will be on a Bosman & both he & City will know full well what their getting into, & I trust our club's judgement more than my own, or above emotional Rag & City fans. If it happens great. If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Before the CL final, there was an interview with Pep and Camel Gob where Pep was saying about the need to refresh teams regardless of winning things. I'm not sure we did enough of that last summer, possibly down to the issues of trying to get Kane, but also with the age of the midfield.

This summer we're definitely losing Fernandinho and there are questions over Gundogan. KdB is struggling to play more than 70 minutes, presumably as he gets no rest and there's a mid-season world cup to contend with next season. I'd like to see Foden in the middle a lot more, but that depends on Grealish getting to grips with his role.

Do we therefore need another player in there, I'd say yes. A real Fernandinho replacement would be nice, as otherwise there's no rest for Rodri, but I think we need someone to rotate with KdB/Bernardo. We could play almost 60 games next season, so even with one more first-time player, that would mean 40 starts each, plus any sub games etc. Even taking the Carabao out of it, you could be lookin at 30+ games and then there's however many international games.

Could Pogba fit into that? Possibly, as long as someone thinks he'd actually press. There are other options, but cost will also come into it. Bellingham probably couldn't leave this summer but c£100m, Rice £100m, Ward-Prowse £60m, FdJ £60m. We also need a left back. Pogba on a free makes a lot of sense in spend terms, even if the salary would be higher.

I'm not bothered he played for them, as they won't get a penny out of it and he clearly doesn't care that much for them. Most of their fans are saying they'll be glad to see the back of him, so him playing well for us would just add to the fun but it's not the reason for signing him. If Pep thinks he'd fit into the team, that's good enough for me. If he doesn't, I'm good with that too.

It's like 5 years at the swamp have been totally forgotten. It's never Pogba who plays shit, it's the managers fault, it's the players around him, it's a lack of coaching. The bloke is a waste of space and has proved it over many years and lots of games. Wherever he is on the pitch he is being played out of position. He has been tried all over and has always been found out. He's too slow as an attacking midfielder, as a defensive midfielder he constantly loses possession. Put him on the left of a 3 and he disappears, I hope he goes anywhere but to us, funny enough the rags on ragcafe think the same, anywhere including City as long as he is gone next season, which tells you all you need to know.

Posts like this are at least 20% of the reason I hope we sign him.

Hasn't he said a few times this season that he's surprised that's not been needed?

He definitely talked about it a lot when we were looking at losing some big players last year, but he's spoken this season about how surprised he has been with the hunger the squad have at the moment.

In the words of Pep, this season we've been "so, so close", and arguably the biggest thing that went wrong was the CL draw. Had we got the Liverpool route, we'd probably be in the two finals, and possibly four points ahead in the league. Those four attritional games in a row, left us with a tired and injured squad.
