Pellegrini - The English Managers Syndrome

That's true but no player should be happy to be hooked; I do though think it should be drilled into them how to behave when they are subbed: it's a team game and you should make way gracefully for whichever team mate is replacing you.

If you have a beef with the manager, take it up away from the glare of the cameras.
Maybe he just wasn't happy with his own game, though it didn't appear that way, however I agree with you, that the time to disagree is out of sight of TV cameras.

He has demotivated me, as a fan, so fuck knows what the guys in the dressing room must think?

I can genuinely say that watching him and City these last 12 months has been a joyless experience and one which has actually turned me into an angry spectator. I hate watching this team. Nothing worse in this life than selling yourself short.

The only reason we are where we are is in spite of him, having players who are so good, they can still get results against most.

This sums it up for me too. The team selection yesterday was shocking. He rarely has a Plan A, so no chance of a Plan B. Having heard Stuart Pearce's comments pre-match, he could see it quite clearly too. Funnily enough his reign as manager was the last time my expereince of watching City was as joyless, yet even he would seem to be an improvement at present. The bewilderment on the players faces says it all. You can see it on Kiddo's face too. I would be happy for an interim replacement with the same squad, I don't see the point of buying anybody else at this stage. Even if we bought Messi this week, he would struggle in this team. We desperately are missing leadership on and off the pitch. Thats why Kompany is so important to us, it's not just the CB role. I would have Zabba playing as much as possible too. Time for some big decisions with this team, but I think Pellegrini hasn't the bottle to make them. He's lost it. It's been coming for a long time, and could be seen last season too.

If we'd only win every game, then we'd be very comfortable :)

(The Everton v Swansea result kind of backs up that "easiest title" is a bit of a myth because the whole division is capable of getting a result anywhere else.)

We all know that this squad should be delivering more performance wise. And whilst I think there is consensus on that, the bigger problem is that no one actually seems to know how to improve things; although lots of people think they know. However, there is enough divergence on solutions to highlight just how difficult it is for the manager: regardless of who he picks, too often too many under-perform. That doesn't mean I think he is addressing problems in the way he should but I am as hacked off with the players as the manager. The manager though is responsible for results.

The summer is going to require changes in coaching and playing staff; it is also going to need people like Txiki to show a full appreciation of the mix of players required to achieve simultaneous success in European and domestic competition.

Yes I agree with all of that, bringing Pep in will clearly be good, but its not the instant fix everyone is assuming, and next year the rest will improve again, with big money to spend for everyone, nit just City.

Hahaha. Geez.

As an oft supporter of the manager I do find the whole aspect of team selection the most puzzling. If he's going in the summer, why keep picking the same underperforming players week after week? Similarly, if he has the chance to stay, the same question applies.
Best away performance at Seville, saw a 3 of Yaya and the 2 Ferns, Navas and Sterling. Changing Bony for Aguero can only make it better. That team has never started since that night. I just hope, given the stick he gets, the manager is given a free choice of who starts.

That line up was perfect against technically accomplished opponents, who were likely to take the game to us. That barely 4 days later he opted for virtually the same counterattacking line up against a side (Villa) who had taken 1 point from a possible 30, spoke volumes

I get the feeling the main players wanted someone who wouldn't be such a disciplinarian and work them as hard as Mancini did.

However things have now gone the other extreme and it looks like the players don't actually do much in training. Some look overweight and there doesn't seem much organisation in the team.

The frustration that we should be playing much better has got to some players and especially the fans.

This.
