We aren’t scousers and we aren’t a cult
He is human and fallible. And if you’re honest you know he had a shocker today.
Few and far between thankfully and I wouldn’t swap him for anybody. But enough with the cult of Pep nonsense
He had a bad bad day. He normally gets a tune out of them after a half time bollocking, but if anything we were even worse as the game went on.
It happens to us all. Bad day at the office. No shame in admitting it
Like Palace at home last season, this bunch have that yellow streak game in them every year.
No excuse whatsoever for waiting til 85m for a sub though
Of course he's fallible, and I'm certainly not happy with anyone's performance today.
I'm just sick of reading that he's a stubborn egotist who over thinks every time we drop points, when these are exactly the same reasons why we win the vast majority of games we play

True mate, but he was almost as passive as our back four today

I was unhappy Pep didn't make changes and came here to write just that. But we don't know that (tactical and personnel) changes would have made us better.

Imo, Pep didn't make changes (earlier) because he trusts Gundogan and KDB. Also, Foden had scored (and is scoring much more often than Grealish and Mahrez anyway) and Bernardo is too important. Gundogan has scored crucial goals and is captain for a reason, and KDB can produce something out of nothing even when he is poor. KDB was poor vs Villa in *that* game, but assisted the winner for...Gundogan. That's why, I think, Pep decided against subbing them.

In hindsight, Pep was wrong today, we couldn't be worse off with earlier subs. As you say, we were getting worse in the 2nd half, Pep failed to change that. He might have made bad mistakes indeed. Nobody can be absolutely certain about the right decisions at the time, though, especially people who have never managed at professional level. It's not about being uncritical or cultish, it's about knowing one's limitations and the nature of the beast (football, that is).

Imagine that Pep had subbed off Gundo, KDB and Foden for Alvarez, Grealish and Mahrez and we lost. He would have had a shocker then for subbing in Grealish who has 1 goal for Foden or KDB who are far more productive...Maybe there are other things, too. Pep wants Gundogan to stay...

All fair and reasonable points tbf mate
I know he often wants the players to work it out and solve the puzzle for themselves, but there was zero sign of that happening at any stage today and fresh legs, energy and ideas can’t have hurt

Put out arguably our best side today, although you could argue over Akanji and Dias, and a few of the players never showed up. On them for me.

ThInk the biggest mistake that has been made was to let Jesus leave.
Yes Jesus wanted out but that was because he was not getting enough time, Pep was splitting time between him and Sterling, Grealish, Mahrez - all clearly much below the level Jesus is and so can understand him wanting out. If Pep had given him more time he would have remained.

we were rubbish today poor selection awful tactics what's the point of having 5 substitutes? if pep is too stubborn in his ways to make changes 0/10
