Didn't early into his tenure with us, he said he would retire soon? Every media outlet speculating 3 years max with us? Ended up staying 8 years with us.

Maybe he's genuinely tired, but alot can happen between now and the end of his contract. He might somehow find a new spark again.

Couple of new, genuinely exciting signings will get the fires burning again.

I doubt Pep would retire from club football before breaking Ferguson's record of most trophies. And there is no better place to win trophies than City (he wouldn't go to Madrid, Bayern or PSG anyway).

There's a good chance that he stays beyond next year. Buy him 2-3 exciting talents to work with and see what happens.

we need to back him properly in the transfer window.
he probably wanted Bellingham or Rice and got Nunes who he used only vs lower table teams and almost none at all in the very end. the season before he was given Phillips.

we need to do U-turn on these type of transfers and come up with much better quality signings. we need a mix of young potential stars with lot to improve (Gvardiol, Doku fits that bill) and mixture of top class players (Haaland, Belingham etc)...
cut the crap signings that are great at lower half sides but years away from being good for City.

if we lose Walker and Bernardo this summer for example both of them was heavily relied on this season, we need to replace them with high quality not some decent RB from Bournemouth and a winger from Fulham.

Exactly. Pep has operated with one hand behind his back, at times. Too often we are playing to gallery with net spend f.c

I think Arsenal are virtually level with us, they may even go into next season as favourites, given many of our important players are ageing.

Pep can feel a lot different about things if he is reinvigorated.

You can want anything you want, signing those players isn't an easy task.

By all accounts it doesn't matter what we offered, Bellingham wasn't joining and with Rice, I think he bottled it and thats why we pulled out and Arsenal had a free run at him.

We then clearly wanted Paqueta but he has fucked his own career and then we are left with either taking a punt across Europe or going after someone that Pep spoke well of in the past and already had prem football under his belt in Nunes. None of us are privvy to what happens in training but I do feel Pep can sometimes hold players back too long and Nunes could have had more chances during the season.

I agree with this, we need to offload the players who Pep doesn’t trust or want like Philips, Cancelo, Nunes and probably Gomes. Get players with quality Pep is able to use.

Pep signed off on all of those. This nonsense that Txiki is just buying what he wants and leaving Pep to deal with them is ridiculous.
City are good but they aren't able to predict the future.

Cancelo gave plenty of good service before he imploded, we did well to get him out on short notice as Pep wanted and he isn't coming back so its a pointless one to talk about.

Nunes, someone Pep has spoke glowingly about and he was 4th/5th choice on the list, we had to act when we got injuries and we needed bodies. He may not have set the world on fire, but that isn't anyones fault as such. Hes hardly the first one to have a tough first season under Pep.

Gomez, again he has been a solid squad player. Does alright when he gets minutes, seemingly is a good lad and never an issue. Hes third choice Lb and at a push you could stick him on the wing if you needed to. You aren't finding anyone better who will stick around with the minutes that he gets.

Phillips, had plenty of sound reasoning when we signed him but it just went downhill and near impossible to recover from by the looks of it. Shit happens, we get it right a lot more than we dont so lets just write this one off and move on.
