Piss poor yet again. He got it wrong from the start, he tried to set us up to control the game, something we just cannot do anymore, the only times we posed a threat was with pace upfront and direct attacking so peps decision at halftime was to remove the threat we had and go all in on the thing that wasn't working. Yes we scored two goals shortly after the subs but they were completely against the gameplan. They both stemmed from defenders breaking forward not us controlling the game. We didn't create a single chance after those goals, creating less than we did first half, we couldnt get out of our half because the controlled pressing game we wanted to play, they were 10 times better than us at. We couldn't have played into their hands any better.
We used to dream of teams being naive enough to go toe-to-toe with us because we knew we were the best on the planet at playing that way and we'd come out on top if anybody dared to do that. well the shoe is on the other foot now and we are choosing to go toe-to-toe with teams that are much, much better than us at that kind of game. That is on the manager.
Pep will come out and say once more that we cannot compete with teams who run and press because they are better than us at it, yet he continues to set us up to play exactly that way.
