So I watch other teams playing well to get ideas of what the football landscape is.

PSG and Barcelona are 2 examples.

They both tilt one of their fullbacks wide (Barca LB, PSG RB), then let the winger on that side roam inside (Barca Raphinha, PSG Kvara/Doue) to be the "free man" while everyone else is marked.

Then they usually build on that side, switch to the other side with isolated winger who excels at 1v1 (whose fullback now comes in to help like Kounde), and just make loads of chances.

And we did that with Gvardiol and Marmoush and won every game we did it.

Doku doesnt need to be a touchline winger, he can roam inside a bit as well to rotate with Marmoush.

Let Savinho play 1v1 RW, with Nunes offering support.

The way we currently play offers no overloads or cleverness.

We can play in a similar system like PSG and Barca, whom have modernized possession football (they are still possession based teams), and it suits our players!

The fear factor is gone. No one fears us anymore, they know we are no longer the high pressing , well drilled, high scoring machine we once were. Once that is lost it is very hard to get it back. Just ask Mike Tyson. Sure he had success after Buster Douglas blasted him out but opponents were no longer beaten before the fight started. Most teams fancy their chances against us now. We have lost almost 1/3 of our league fixtures this season. 1/2 of them since the rot started. 5 games in which we havent scored at all. Peps analysis is a tad worrying.
"To find a way we have to play better. We have to do something, it will not come from the sky.
Forest didn’t really even go for it today either. They looked liked they were plying for a draw.

The buck stops with him for these team selections and performances. We have had a week off to prepare for this game and some of the players have had 10 days off.

Really poor today and he has to take some of the blame for that.

Our pressing is dead , never have teams come out of their own half so much and easily as they have the last 3-4 months.

Both team have exceptional wingers who can score and assist ,city doesnt.

19 points from the last 10 games, including 5 games against the other top 6, suggests that he's changed plenty and found solutions.

I swear this thread attracts BM's greatest lunatics.
We’ve lost 15 of our last 30 games. We’re doing the same things over and over and nothing is changing with the end result. You’ve spent the last hour or so insisting we’re improving. You sound like the lunatic fella.

Look at it whatever way makes you feel better, it’s 24 points from the last 17 league games since start of October…. and now 23 points off the top of the league.

If you’re implying we should be rejoicing for 19 points from a possible 30 and having watched us get torn apart by Liverpool, Arsenal, Madrid and continue to throw games away in the final minutes which one of us is the lunatic?

Here lies the biggest concern for me.

We have improved slightly, but it's cost us £200m to do so, and even then we still look miles away from being a top team again.

I think this rebuild is going to be bigger than some think. I think we may have to adjust expectations for next year because I think it will be another season of ups and downs before we challenge again.

Our wingers can create, but Pep didnt set them up for it today by having them so isolated with no support.

Savinho is definitelt a shit finisher, so let Doku/Marmoush invert on the left, they are better finishers and if we switch to the right wing, that players is focused on creating.

Take Yamal at Barca, wonder boy, generational.

He is actually a below average finisher (he is always below his xG), but he is so good at creating that he helps Barca and is vital. Savinho also has crazy creating stats for us when Pep sets us up right.

But Pep played a shit system.

Couldn’t have been worse than Doku, Savio, Foden or Bernardo. O’Reilly not getting a look in the league when he’s looked the part in most of his appearances also is frustrating
He's been better than all of them when he's been on the pitch the last month, clearly something is wrong with Pep but then why is he an unused sub ? if you don't want to play him just freeze him out like Rashford at the rags and give his spot to a young player, it makes no sense to have him on the bench and not use him.

maybe ,but still our lack of quality on the wings is pretty huge comapred to the best teams in the world atm. Not sure Savinho and Doku as wingers will ever provide as much as needed.

But thats an irrelevant discussion.

We can never know how good they are if the team is set up to fail.

We have seen enough this season of what they can do when the conditions are suited to them (not just them, the whole team looks bad because of how Pep sets us up).

The point is that since we brought in some young blood in January we've been much better.
Surely even the dimmest of posters can understand that improving trend?

We have the best coach in the world yet we look like the worst coached team.
That’s why I am worried slightly. Injuries have no doubt played its part.

So that aside, what coaching took place this week?

The players can’t pass the ball in or around the opponents box to create chances.

What is pep seeing every day? I hate to say it but is he now becoming part of the problem? How many players need to go or come in before we start to see proper progress.

I don’t like the noises coming out of the club after each defeat. For the 1st time it feels like the end of his dominance.

Unreal, I love pep and would be happy to have him for another ten seasons but he and khaldoon cannot be satisfied with how the players are performing.

Has the great man burnt out just like his aging stars? I hope not but the reality might be different. Is the club ready to accept that? As fans we most certainly are not.

In the last 10 games we've taken 19 points.

In the 10 before that we took 8 points.

Are you thick?
