Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

Pep needs his golden boys taken off him this summer so he can’t put his faith in them any longer! He’s seems to have lost his ruthless streak to be honest and has gone back to his favourites rather than the hungry guys desperate to impress.

I agree, but this is why he left Barca in 2012.

That team became tired and worn in his third season from all the demands he put on them and he didn't want to be the guy that told a few of those players they are not wanted anymore. So instead he let Tito reinvigorate them with a new voice to go again.

He has never had to tell his battle won soldiers it's time to go.

It was a little easier with Aguero and co because they were never his signings.

This is not necessarily a flaw of Pep, it's a humanitarian side of his character that has to be commended. It's why so many players love playing for him. However it is difficult when the story needs to end.

He is going to have to bite the bullet this summer.

Regardless of cards etc, his subs made the strategy on our right wing Bernardo, with the hope of KDB underlapping, while Rico inverted. That is absolutely horrific. In desperation I get it, but through choice it's inexcusable

I get Nico had a yellow card.

But ive never seen Pep, or any managet, sub out their CDM in so many games in my life.

Nearlt every game this season he has done it, the new CDM doesnt get up to speed quick enough for the game and we concede.

I swear, this has happened in like 90%+ of games he subs the CDM. He never did it in the past.
He should have trusted Nico not to get a 2nd yellow. We were definitely disrupted by him being taken off.

The issue is Forest did wind up Rodri a couple of seasons back and we couldn't risk it this time around and Nico was correctly subbed off (although I don't think he has fully recovered from his injury vs Leyton Orient).

Who do you replace Pep with if you want him gone in the summer?
He shouldn't be replaced in the summer, in my opinion. He should be supported regarding transfers but also be influenced by a new voice (Viana) who won't have the same dependency/relationship with our legends who have won it all. Pep is the best coach in the world: he is the best person to lead us.

It's days like today that you remember what a great City team were in recent years. Days when you remember what a great player Riyad Mahrez was and he wasn't even in our best starting eleven two seasons ago. Oh, for a player of that quality now.

I am total appreciative of Pep and what he has achieved. There is no one else that I want to take us forward next season. No one, though, is perfect or infallible, nor are they above criticism. He is making a lot of mistakes this season. Taking off our defensive midfield player is one of them that he keeps making. It can work for the better but not for City because it disrupts our rhythm and shape because Nico Gonzalez is the best available player for that role in Rodri's absence

Pep should have trusted Nico not to get a 2nd yellow. We were definitely disrupted by him being taken off. Space was conceded in midfield as a result.

We have to do better, including Pep.

Not been Pep’s best season but to be honest it’s also a massive player quality issue.

Your fit midfield options are Kovacic, Bernardo, Rico, Gundo, KDB, Nico. That’s a massive issue. Very little physicality

Defence constantly chopping and changing.

Attackers not scoring for long stretches of the season.

Strange decision making from Pep too I guess but he’s not exactly got great options in the squad, especially in the midfield. How Pep thought we could compete this season and not sign anyone last summer I’ll never know.

Pep and club have been behind the curve and four-in-a-row blinded them imo.

Deserves a lot of criticism as he's been as short as the players this season. Not seeing or hearing a lot of fight from him which is worrying, but he's had bigger things on his plate these last few months. Would give him next season and if there's still no signs of improvement a few months in consider a change

If Pep were in charge of Forest he'd set them up like prime Barca and they'd be languishing in the bottom half.
If he were in charge of Arsenal they'd be nearer Liverpool than they are.
This is the Pep conundrum.
Can't manage average players. Great with good ones. In fact the best.
Such a weird thing to say. He’s got a shit load of good players at the minute, the whole team and himself are struggling. Shit happens.

Everything has an expiry date. We'll not everything but the point is that Pep needs a break. And City need energy. If that means a new manager then so be it. If that means more players then so be it. But action is needed. It won't fix itself.

At best it stopped us drawing 0-0. We were never winning that game with that performance.

The tide had already started turning. Was he on when Ederson made that save?

Forest were shite today, didn’t even look like they were bothered about winning as long as they didn’t lose and we still ended up gifting them the game.

Do we even know that’s why he took him off? I get it might have been that reason for Nunes as that guy hasn’t got a brain and isn’t a right back so risky but this lad has probably been booked 30 tines and not been sent off. Maybe he didn’t like the way the game was going or he isn’t fit enough for 90 prem minutes yet. Not the first time he has been hooked.

in previous document series Amazon, Netflix etc he was incredible energy in dressing room scenes, wonder what would some after game scenes would be this season after the repeated shit low intensity performances wheeled out resulting another losses.

feels like he accepted this season is gone and he didnt really find a way out of the rot tactically. things may improved a bit after spending close to 200m in January and the FA cup draws we lucked out until now, but our style of play vs anyone who doesnt give us space is incredibly slow and boring and easy to defend. we very much rely on individual brilliance rather than team effort and serious movements upfront. we need Foden to score a long shot, or a winger to create out of nothing or a long shot from others. maybe find Haaland in between 5 defenders but players like Bernardo refuses to make a forward pass so its not easy.

his ideas of tucking in Lewis or Nunes, does this achieve anything at all? do teams find it harder to go through our midfield due to it? not really? does it cause issues in defence positionally? quite often yes. does it make us better building attacks that Lewis or Nunes inverts? struggle to see it.

no coordinated pressing, not enough hard work off the ball. I am watching dippers they break sweat to track back all game.we chicken out from 50-50s and lose all second balls.

it must hurt his ego that more and more sides come up with answers against his tactics. we have been beaten a lot this season, with quite a few big collapses in that.

The point is that since we brought in some young blood in January we've been much better.
Surely even the dimmest of posters can understand that improving trend?
Have we though? We’ve still been taken apart by Liverpool, Arsenal and Madrid. And we continue to throw games in the final minutes, How is that improvement?

Implying I’m dim is pot kettle black. Why don’t you wake up and refrain from your happy clapping agenda. We have been and continue to be dreadful. Not much has actually improved since Jan, the same issues are happening and pep has done nothing to alleviate it.

Agree with every bit of that, his system is broken and he either refuses to change or can’t change because he has no answers.

Given how utterly turgid we’ve been for most of the season I’d say it’s both. And it seems now there’s an acceptance from him to turn up to games to get beat.

That mentality has set into the squad and we’re seeing it on the pitch. I’m not sure you just get that mentality back, something big has to change but it seems pep is the only one who cant see it. Hes never been in this position as a manager before.

If anything this season has actually made me not feel so bad for when pep does come to leave. Look what slot has done with the dippers.

this fucking word salad that Pep and players come out with that now we have 10 finals left. it means nothing if we play like this. we had 11 finals left before the Forest game. if we prepare tactically and mentally like this for a final there are big issues.

every other PL club has 10 finals left in PL. some bit more in EL and CL still there for them.
