Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

he needs to spend next two weeks on how to outsmart Iraola in the FA cup. to visit them and lose because they press us which we can expect how they will play will be very poor.
lucky thing is they dont have Kane, Salah, Bellingham, Rudiger, van Dijk, Vitinha etc in their side.

Letting Neves and MacAllister slip away while chasing Bellingham and Rice was criminal.
Facts, also letting Rice go to arse, Lavia go without a solid buy back clause, refusing to pay B.Guimares release clause, selling Mahrez was fine, but selling his natural replacement Palmer, beyond stupidity.

I dont have this blind faith that few summer transfers are enough to get us out of this hole.
first of all how hungry Pep is for a rebuild? how much energy he has for all this when looked like leaving us few months ago and our bad form made him not leave rather than his plans. felt like he wanted to quit and one more go with the old guard which backfired so badly.
and then hand over a completely out-burned, old squad to a new manager (who would have been in for a shock) and Txiki was gonna assist this rather than look for long term benefit of the team-club in terms of squad building?
so strange.

also how much is he prepared to change again tactically? can he move our style back to closer to what is wass under Sane, Sterling, Kun times? with more speed, more pressing instead of this slower building attacks but more control( what control this season lol), not sure

and then summer transfers, we need a few big transfers, but whats the chance all will be a hit and none of them will be a flop? small. some will need 6-12 months to get up to speed, get used to team, Pep, PL etc. based on recent transfers Doku, Savinho, Nunes, Phillips, Haaland, Gvardiol, Kovacic, Gundogan resigned. we need to do much better than this hit rate in these ones.

Tactically poor. Has been for months. Quite worrying really.

Hard to blame the manager when it's individual defensive errors costing us.

But our #1 problem is..
We can't play KDB every game,
we can't play Bernardo every game,
and we refuse to play Nunes every game,
when they're the most creative players on the team!

If you want Pep out, you're entitled and ungrateful for what he's achieved and brought to the club. If you want him to oversee the rebuild and be given a free pass on this poor season, then you're labelled a happy clapper. I think the position is not so clear cut.
I would like to see the younger players introduced and some evidence that there is work being done on set pieces on the training ground - both attacking and defending them. Change the wingers over during the game, get Grealish back involved. Be willing to take risks and get the ball forward quicker. Just stop being so predictable.

Tactics don’t change mate. He knows he can’t play certain players, so adapt your approach to suit the players who are on.

It feels like he’s given up on this season and is essentially sending the team out without any real aim on how to win the game.

The team - no matter who plays - seem to be sleepwalking their way through games and attacking based on muscle memory than any real directive. And that stems from the manager.

Don’t want him out. Never will. He’s the best ever. But this season has been a bit concerning which I’m sure he’ll rectify.

You know 1 thing that I find absolutely scary..

We had more control of the game vs Forest with Nunes in the RB/ middle than we did vs Brighton with Rico in the RB/ middle.

Just an observance.. no hate intended.

its a problem that this season aint a transition one yet. we aint transitioning to anything other than accepting what worked before will not work anymore unless brutal changes in the squad like 60% of it replaced. thats 14-15 players or more lol.

not like Pep set out to play something different and we struggle to get used to it and this brings worse results. or we did big summer changes and new players bedding in and it takes time like his very first season. we had to go out and spend 200m in January we didnt expect to do back in summer I am sure of that. otherwise we would have been able to get same 4 players for much less in July...

or when Liverpool decided to revamp their old midfield from Thiago, Fabinho, Henderson, Keita to Mcallister, Szoboszlai, Grevenberch, Jones (and missed out on Zubimendi or Caicedo the summer before) who needed last year to get some chemistry and now they are functioning well etc.

I dont see anything like this, as we had awful planning of transfers in the summer. we thought Alvarez can be sold and not replaced and Savinho will bring alone enough extra hunger plus Gundogan will bring experience and that will be enough. we were naive to think Rodri can be overplayed another full season every 3 days without alternative.

small squad, lots of injuries, players getting older, lots of games, poor recruitment, tactically found out a lot, this is not a transition season. it may will be a "learning from our huge errors" season which can benefit us later on like strengthen while you are ahead otherwise you fall back and let others improve above you and then you need to improve above them again which they wont look at not doing anything about it...

We held Brighton at home, which is a great result for the team. We’ve struggled against top 6 teams all season at home so don’t understand the reaction.

Fair enough. But I’d say Forest allowed us to control the game, though. Their strength is hitting teams on the counter. Brighton are the opposite.

Txiki would give Pep 250 million in summer to rebuild, thankfully he's going this summer and Viana is not that daft.

Ive been saying the players havent been playing for him since december, people are just now seeing the same thing.
So what's your point. You want Viana to spend no money and then we sleep walk into 10th next year?

Not really.Just that with nearly 500 million worth of talent in the starting xi today it shouldn't beyond Pep to get a tune out of them.

We not a settled side we in transition and Brighton are an inform side and if you watch that game and disrespect Brighton and where we are your not seeing the reality of where we are now! We have been at level no other club as ever reached! If any fan think we going to reach that levels again are deluded
