Pep: 'The players deserve a full stadium, we need our fans!'

Not really related, but not thread worthy either. At the match i heard about 8 blues singing (tune of the mancini song):

Guardiola, woah oh oh
Guardiola, Woah oh oh
He comes from Catalan
He is Man Citys man

I nearly fucking died of a brain aneurysm. How shit is that

Tbf if the choice was that or booing, I'd go back to booing.

Shockingly awful.. can't we change the last bit to "He shops at Matalan"

What are the huge positives you speak of? personslly I don't care about whether other fans understand why the booing. They don't listen when the excuses for empty seats is peddled to justify why not full house. They don't give a shit.
We are on the cusp of becoming a top 4 European side in my mind aiming to win the biggest club prize. To do this we need to listen to pep, not least so he feels part of the club and stays to develop us. We want him to love the club as much as us, build s legacy. As it stands may well be saying to himself what a bunch of miserable fuckers, I'm off after 3.

One of the main reasons he's come, is to try & win the Champions League. Not the only one, but it's up there.

He is advising us on how best to achieve it.

Imo, he's right.

Completely agree, the club also need to listen to fans re-pricing so CL sell out, that's another thread.

We should split the discussion on stadium attendance and booing, they are not mutually exclusive.

The attendance is a given and in time it will improve. We don't have train loads of supporters from Euston and buses filled with tour groups from far asia, yet. we'll find alternatives to bring back the fans that stopped attending but playing well on the field is a positive.

On the booing, which already has its own thread in this forum, paying supporters have every right to boo. Some do it because their discontent on UEFA, some For the laugh. I did it the first time round but then stopped because in the blocks I've been it felt halfhearted. But it is true the moment the anthem stops the players get our full support. I have no problems with the boos it's just a small fraction of the night. The 90 minutes we are always behind our players. I also personally feel that it drives the players to actually beat the system. I remember how our players did the poznan, and that sense of attachment is what I hope with our discontent of uefa. Surely the players have felt hard done by with the squad number sanctions and the treatment of our fanbase?

We can stop the booing and move on but the CL is always to me an elitist tournament that in recent years have tried in vain to maintain the status quo. I would like us to win the trophy eventually because it puts us against top teams from across europe. It is just unfortunate that this tournament is run by UEFA. Stop the booing, but never forget how they have tried to shaft us in the past and in the likely future.

And that's why they are unlikely to officially request it. If they do, a percentage of people will ignore them & that is absolute porn for UEFA.

Guardiola has asked for it to stop.

Fans supporting the team & drowining out the anthem by shouting City over it would be a far noisier, (& really far far noisier) effect than 20% or less booing, which is likely how it's going to end up by the end of this season, at best. It shows respect & support for the manager & it would make for a fantastic atmosphere at kick off.

Booing it is impotent. It hasn't worked & it isn't even a proper protest. If people really want to protest why don't they do it properly like other clubs have ?

It's a half arsed token gesture which Pep thinks is not helping in what he is trying to achieve. I see no reason why it's not possible to support the team & if people want to have a go at UEFA, do that properly whilst also going balls out to win the competition.

Or just boycott it if people feel that strongly.[/QUOTE

We are boycotting it
Booooooooooooooo

Agree, replacing booing with something more positive doesn't mean all is forgotten and forgiven.
As I said previously winning the cup will be the biggest statement to be made.

Jesus reading this thread you would think alan ball was still in charge with Peter Swales as chairman. Get a fuckin grip. Reds reading this will be laughing their socks off.

Pep would just like full stadiums for games to support the team because funnily enough a full ground with pumped fans gives the team an edge.

You cannot expect him to know every single city fans work schedule travel commitments and financial state. However As a general statement there is nothing wrong with it.[/QUOTE]

Well said - I do not understand all this faux offense being taken by people who were there for Tuesday but could not make Wednesday for genuine reasons. The issue is not about them - we clearly do not have a problem getting their support.

I was one. I could be there for Tuesday - which meant a 200 mile drive but then I had to come back (another 200 mile drive) due to a commitment at my daughters school on Wednesday. I am not thinking Pep's comments are aimed at me.
