The fact that Ancelotti is desperate to keep hold of him says it all. Ancelotti and Pellegrini, two of the best coaches in Europe, rate him - and that's because he is a fantastic footballer.

I might be wrong but i did read relatively recently that Pepe will not be first choice centre half. There has to be some reason why he would consider leaving or RM consider selling him. Clearly it could all be bollcosk but City must have had some sort of indication that there a chance because why else make a bid?

All confusing but hopefully become clearer

Like you i think he is a top top centre half just maybe a little past his very very best

Well hes 31 in February, if someone wants to offer stupid money you listen

ok so he is not 30 he is 30 and a third; are you 9 and three quarters by any chance?

Why?

Re: Pepe

Hope I'm very wrong, but I'm sort of expecting Nasty to have a slight regression this year. Second year syndrome and all that.
Some teams may have spotted some weaknesses in his game and will try to exploit them, also I wonder if he was closer to Mancini than most as he signed him and had faith to play him from the start.

Having an older head with good technique and smarts around may be wise but I hope that the figures quoted are the usual press BS.

If it happened to Kompany the year after he properly rose to prominence, it can certainly happen to Nastasic. This really is the only deal we must make this summer. We'll be bringing in an experienced centre half regardless. If we can't get Pepe I guarantee everyone will be whining their keyboards off when we end up with someone worse than Kolo. Our fallback to Pepe isn't going to be Thiago Silva, sorry to say.

Re: Pepe

Not this wrongun again.

I did find it odd last night but it may have happened anyway that Pepe was captain last night for the first half, and Higuain in the second.

All know Higuains off but was the Pepe captaincy a sign of a send off maybe?

Re: Pepe

Is everybody really convinced with Pepe..the guy has a monster image and a horrible track record of dangerous tackles n bookings. I am loving the recent Barca type image of city in media where our manager is not trying to get into dirty talks or mind games in media when mou and moyes r loving the media attention..i am loving the "Queit One" and the "humble one " tag which gaffer is getting in the media..i am afraid how wud Pelli react when Pepe goes for his kungfu kicks on the field and how the gaffer will defend him in media.

If Pepe is signed he will be first choice alongside Vinny imo and Nastasic will vie with Lescott (if he is still here) on rotation.

Re: Pepe

Perez won't sell players to us, he's too much of a snake just like
Galliani at Milan. If we want Pepe, he'll demand a ridiculous transfer
fee starting at 30m plus. Just not worth dealing with are Real Madrid.

it's fucking July and someone is adding a year onto his age by saying he is 31 in February, rather like a child who says I am not 9 I am 9 and a half
