If we open up a dialogue with Real, we should also make joint bid for Coentrao too.

And Di Maria!!
I was going too mention Di Maria, but whether our budget could stretch that far in this widow remains to be seen which is why I went with what we desperately need.

Pepe would replace Kolo, Coentrao > Kolorov & Di Maria > Sinclair. We still have a lot of highly paid deadwood to rid ourselves of, so yes all these options could be on the table.

The problem is Real. If reports of an £86m bid for Bale is to believed, they will need to sell, but will want top dollar for all three. A bid of £40m would concentrate their minds somewhat.

my one worry is that they might be unhappy with the rotation going on (Di Maria competing with Nasri and Jovetic, Coentrao with Clichy and Pepe with Nastasic/Lescott). There is also the point you make about budget for this window. I think we will get Pepe and call it a window.

I think any further players coming in (Pepe apart) would need to be part funded by sales which is the key. I think it is achievable and most players today accept the need for rotation at clubs in the Champions League.

More important than the cost of players who's fees will be amortised over the length of their contracts, is the wage that they're on. Our new policy of reasonable basic wages with fat bonuses based on success means ffp will not have as big an effect on us as first feared.

Re: Pepe

well the rag press are desperate for us to buy this lad and a lot on here seem to be following just a question is this player who has lost his place to a kid the best we can afford

If we play one up front there are three places, if we play two up front there are two places..for:
Jovetić
Silva
Nasri
Navas
Milner

We don't need - or particularly want a fucking mars arse diving cheating bastard - di Maria.

Re: Pepe

So he's lost his place in the Madrid first team to a very talented youngster. It doesn't stop Pepe from being a quality player, with the experience and know how to be an excellent addition to our squad.

If we're looking at a fee of between £15m to £18m then I don't believe there is a better option out there.

The one Rag I know doesn't want us to sign Pepe.

Him or someone like him is essential for the hard road ahead.

Surely this will be intensified now?? With nasty injured we need him in ASAP?

Is there any news on Nasty mate..

Haven't heard any yet Sam but the boys have only just landed back in Manchester so am sure he'll be checked out ASAP. Gutted for him though as last season was one shining light and was still for me a started along side vinny.

Rather ankle than knee tbh..

Re: Pepe

Some of Pepe's tackles have been a disgrace, he's an animal. If he signs it would really dampen the feeling I have for this squad at the moment......not that that matters to anyone but me..but still.

Re: Pepe

I wouldn't give a shit if we signed Pepe, he's an experienced pro who
would prove invaluable for the champs league campaign. We really
shouldn't be spending much more than 15m on him though.
