How can he help Nastasic? By keeping him on the bench? I don't care what you say, you don't learn more by sitting on the bench than you do playing alongside Vinny every week.

I don't really want Pepe anyway, because the guy's a thug. But even ignoring that, I don't see how paying £20m for a 30 year-old with questionable anger issues represents good business. Surely there are younger world class defenders who are just as good available for the same price or less? But personally, I'd start the season with Nastasic as the senior CB and maybe buy another promising youngster as backup.

I agree.

and I agree.

Re: Pepe

How many of the Dortmund team were proven CL players?

Our players are good enough to compete in the Champions League now, to win it even. Our failings were as a team. Some individual mistakes stand out, but overall the general performances were crap as well, 2 seasons in a row.

Vince, Nasty, Lescott and Micah can all play there and play well.

I think a right footed CB should be brought in.

You make it sound like he purposely broke those players' legs
Both challenges were made with unnecessary force, particularly the Holden one which was a nasty challenge.
He was, and still is, a nasty player.
Tiote's attempted tackle on Milner, just before the Ben Arfa incident, was worse.
He's a nasty player! Really nasty.

Re: Pepe

After giving this more thought it does make sense to bring him in on a short deal if that's possible. I'm one of Matija's biggest fans but his confidence could be knocked if he made a mistake in a big Champions League game (touch wood) and that would be where the experienced Pepe could come in. Nastasic all the way for most PL matches and Pepe for the majority of European + tough away games like Stoke/West where we've been lacking that bit of steel to push us over the line.

Worried he might be tempted to reunite with Jose. We've seen Joleon isn't up to scratch for the CL games so if he's surplus to requirements at Madrid I hope we secure him asap.

Re: Pepe

Being linked with him again in the Mirror this morning. Based on nothing more than the interview we've already seen from Pellegrini where he refuses to talk about any transfer targets!

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-city-transfer-news-manchester-2093399" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... er-2093399</a>

As with most footy journos these days, if there isn't a story, then just make one up.

Re: Pepe

I'll take him in a heartbeat. Whatever issues he may have, I trust Manuel's man management skills to get the best out of him. Besides, can you imagine him in a derby match??

LOL be worth taking a red to see that.

We'd probably still win the game against that shower of sh*te.
