Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Sorry but CL + WC + PL + other records would trump domestic-only honours. Never mind the press. Ask the City top brass.
The city top brass will put the league above whichever cup competition every time. The cup are just cherries. So 2 in 4 seasons hopefully to be 3 in 5 beats 1 in 5.
Ask most city fans. The media obsess about the C/L far more than the. City top brass or City fans.

A lot of City fans only say this because we’ve never won it. If we had, we’d be crowing about it.

As for the top brass, they are winners and almost everything they do is about gaining international recognition. So far, we haven’t even made waves beyond our own shores (except in business terms).

Seriously, do you think Pep sees his goals as achieved with an (albeit glittering) array of domestic triumphs?

I heard from the lips of a very reliable source yesterday at the game that Pep will leave after this season. I was shocked at that news which was totally out of the blue (no pun intended) but more shocked when the same person said that Arteta didn't stay and throw his hat in the ring because a replacement has already been agreed.... My shock turned to total disappointment when I heard that the replacement is supposedly Mauricio Pochettino
Who knows what Pep will ultimately decide. I don't know your source... but, really...? Do you honestly think that Pep has confided to anyone at all whether or not he'll stay beyond this year? I rather suspect that Pep himself hasn't made up his mind.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if he moves on - as his pattern has been to stay with a club for 3 or 4 years and then leave.

Pep's options are: leave at the end of this season, leave at the end of next season (i.e. honour his current contract) or extend his contract.

Only he knows what he wants to do and whatever he wants to do the club will acquiesce.

He needs to let the club know as soon as possible. The uncertainty is not helpful.

It's Manchester City first and any paid employee (even Pep) a distant second.

If he can't commit to us for another 3 or 4 years he needs to go at the end of the season.

I heard from a reliable source yesterday that the club are fully aware of what will happen and they’ve agreed a replacement ..

I don’t like it but it’s out of our hands isn’t it..

if the Dippers do lift the title they’ll tell everybody that Pep has bottled it because of them

Don’t know your source but if a succession is in place - as was the case when Pep came in - the media will pick it up as you have - as indeed they did in the months before Pep arrived. I’m surprised and disappointed that a senior official at the club is sharing news as sensitive as that - totally unprofessional.

My source was not a club employee but I trust him and if he quite openly commented it was either from within the club (he mentioned hearing the same story from multiple sources) and true or it's reverse psychology to raise the ante and make a Pep extension massive news... I hope it's the latter but fear the former
