Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

All these posts worrying because Pep hasn't extended with a year left on his contract, meanwhile Bielsa at leeds gas already started pre-season training, and signing people, but his contract has actually run out, so it is possible to have the club onside with your plans, without having signed an extension.

Coming on here with your common sense and your grown up thinking. Pffft, spoilsport!

Mendy had injury issues before he arrived, always had muscle, knee issues, he is a big unit and had incredible pace and power, which looks like they have faded.

We have spend a crazy, crazy amount on full backs without ever getting it right. Our scouting is appalling.

For 2 seasons our best LB's have been Zincheko and Delph, says everything.
Especially when we keep hearing this "City know all the personal details of the players etc" when Mendy is more a twitter clown than an important player on the field.

Myabe i am wrong, exept the attacking players, manytiles the club get linked to player that finally get, we hear some negative details that we dismiss because of the trust of Club scouting capacity but the reality as mentiond hell of money on players (i will not say average) they did their part and the club won a lot of thigs, last year was exceptional, but with far less money spent we coulf have got the same result with money left, to sign that star marquee signing

Ohhhhhhh , yes he is.

Ok, so you are suggesting that Klopp maybe better than Pep? But if next season spans out similarly to this one then he is? The “at the moment” part of your post implies that.

If we don’t win the league next year they will. If he’s matched Pep for PL titles with that squad plus won a European cup he will have done the better job. Not saying who is better, talking about the jobs at their 2 current clubs.

I see Yaya‘s knobhead comments have made a few of the back pages. Great player but utter prick.

Different rules?

1. Are both managers fielding players to win all cups?

2. What is the impact of the officials?

3. Why only the 2 clubs, surely United are now in the mix?

4. If Pep wins the CL, Klopp wins the PL, who is the best?

5. What if we win the CL but Pep then decides to leave, does he get credit for winning/losing the World Club Cup and, even more, does he get derided for requesting a special emblem on the official replicated kit?

Very difficult to understand when the rules of the opinion aren’t quite there.

My apologies, it read as if you wanted him to extend his contract. So you do not?
I don't think he has done enough to warrant a contract extension. I'm not a huge fan of rewarding failure. I'm sure that the higher ups set certain goals at the beginning of each season and I'm not sure winning one domestic trophy was the only goal the club had this past season.

I think the club should wait until the midpoint of next season to determine if he should be offered a contract extension. This would depend on the results, overall morale of the players and support of the fanbase.

Pep has his faults, being pretty much a genius doesn’t mean he can never be questioned. An extension would be amazing, he’s the best out there. Simple

Oh Lordy! We cannot win anything by the midpoint of the season, so even if we were ahead in the League and in all Cups, that is no guarantee we wouldn’t be on the brink of yet another catastrophic failure of a season. And quite how you would measure ‘overall player morale’ is beyond me; show of hands in the dressing room? The support of the fanbase? Really? When there’s unlikely to be anyone in the stadium for months. “Sorry your Highness, Pep’s lost Bluemoon!”

This season was a failure, we didn’t set out to just win the league cup however you can’t win everything every year. If he got a new contract he wouldn’t be rewarded for failure, he’d be awarded a contract for being unreal during his time with us. Nobody else could do what he’s done and whoever we get next will be a downgrade sadly.

As a matter of interest, when did you find Manchester City ?

Correct, and I wouldn't even call this season a "failure" anyway, most of the time our football has been the best in the PL, it's just had a number of games that failed to meet the high standard we'd set. Of the 9 PL defeats we should/would have won 5 had we put our chances away, Lyon obviously, the FA Cup semi, a couple of the rag games, and wolves were fails, but we did beat the new spanish champions twice 4 months apart, not an easy task by any means.

There's a lot of crap written in this thread recently.
