Peps Targets

I wouldn't mind him. I think he's underrated, he played well against us home and away
He is the next great passing DM. And he has a mean streak to boot. A taller version of the dude at PSG. Not as good of a dribbler, but a better passer and just as tenacious.

I think based on his contract that Gundogan is very likely to join and won't cost too much as he only has a year left on his contract. I'd expect us to look at either Gaya or Bernat for LB, unless Alaba is a possibility (which I don't think it is).

Weigl and Sane to me are also definite possibilities whereas I think Thiago or Busquets would be long shots. Pogba I believe is up in the air.

Exciting times ahead.

If Sagna leaves, we still have Denayer and Maffeo so this may not necessarily be an issue. While Yaya's agent is being a blabber mouth, I take him nonmire seriously now than I did the last 3 years when Yaya was actually influential. I think Yaya will have a sit-down with Pep, and whether he stays or leaves will be up to Pep. If Pep says stay, Yaya wouldn't go anywhere.

Bony, I don't know. If there is an offer for him, maybe we'll take it. But this too depends on what Pep sees. We as fans have to recognize Pep's view is drastically different from ours. It just is.

One thing that's for sure, there would be lots of moaning next season. Coz Pep never does the expected. If people find the selections of the 'Quite understandable Pellars unacceptable, they'd be tearing their hair out with Pep.

He simply doesn't buy into the boxed view of standard football understanding. Yet its hard to question him coz he wins so often.

As much as Denayer can play at right back he is a centre back and that's where he will play under pep, pep's systems always use attacking fullbacks. In an ideal world Maffeo would be backup to Zabba but if we were to have an injured Zabba for the first half of next year just like this season we will be relying on Maffeo who hasn't even played a senior match yet.
As good as Yaya is and has been for us he will be gone this season because he doesn't fit pep end of.
Bony likewise, he literally can not keep the ball, nor is he mobile enough for Pep he will be gone.

I hope we don't do wholesale changes. We do need rejuvenation though. I would hope for around 4 to 5 players maximum.

Griezmann/Neymar
Sandro/Alaba
Laporte
Pogba/Pjanic

I would think that would be the perfect summer.

What about Yaya doesn't fit Pep? Is it ball retention, which he does better than practically anyone on the squad now bar Nasri. Or is it the 5 second retrieval rule? Which mostly affects the front 5. Neither Busquet nor Alonzo often find themselves a key participant in that endeavor. Nor to mention, how it's a lot easier to accomplish when its a stated tactic.

Yaya is the most Pep ready player we have. If nothing else, he is the only one who has worked under Pep before and understands Pep's past ideas the best.

Like I said, nothing about Yaya suggests a ' nonfit for Pep'. Fans may want him gone. But this says nothing about how well he fits Pep's systems.

imo...

GK (3) Hart, New 2nd, New 3rd (At least one being English or Academy)

CD (4) Kompany, Otamendi, Mangala, Denayer

FB (4) Zaba, Sagna, Angelino, New World Class LB (?)

CM (3) Fernandinho, Delph, New World Class CM (?)

AM (3) Silva, De Bruyne, New World Class AM (Pogba?)

Speed (2) Sterling, New World Class Speed Merchant (?)

ST (3) Aguero, Nacho, New World Class ST (Messi?)

13 or so foreigners already so that means 1 of the out field players needs to be English. Is there such a thing as a World Class LB, CM, AM, Speed-Merchant or ST who is English? Seriously.

Out of interest if we end up getting world class players in the positions you've mentioned what formation and line up do you reckon we'll play?

For example...
.................Hart................
Zaba Kompany Otamendi NewLB
.............Fernandinho...........
DeBruyne Pogba Messi NewSpeedy
.................Aguero..............

Pure fantasy I know but my theory would be KDB to feed killer balls, Pogba to drive into the box, Messi to essentially play Silva's role but score too, someone to add pace on the wing (like Robben), Aguero to be very central, full backs to get forward, Very energetic but disciplined CM to cover and hold.
