Perspective

I keep reading this 'pep fucked the team selection', and you being a more logical poster, i'll ask you, in what way?

Stongest keeper, strongest CH pairing, our best performing fullbacks, our best performing CMF (rodri and gundo).

the only question then is Kev. who is typically and on paper our best player.

And then it is our fittest forwards and a winger who has recently played really well.

So we can argue whether bernardo or foden should have started instead of kev (leaving your best player out for a derby would have been argued just as bad im sure), but that is about it for me, the rest pocks itself.

Agree on the substitutions though.
Totally agree, it isn’t comparable in the slightest to the clusterfuck that was the Lyon debacle.

I think most people would have preferred Bernardo and Foden (I certainly would) but it was hardly controversial starting supposedly your best player and someone (Mahrez) who just came off a stormer against Wolves and is in good form recently.

This thread is about broader perspective, rather than microdetail.

And to that I'd say, gutted, disappointed, we didn't win 'the big one' both in terms of rivalry and extending the gap, and failed to win our 22nd game in a row.

I'll say that last bit again. Disappointing that we didn't win our 22nd game in a row! We are questioning the manager's intellect and the players' mentality, in not winning for the 22nd straight time.

Been an incredible run, with some damn fine football, 11 points clear. That's really the context.

It's 1 match we were bound to lose sometime soon and I'm glad it's as close to a meaningless match that we have between now and the end of the season. The quad is still on.

I'm not sure it was our "best" but it was more than good enough to beat them, and Cancelo has been our best player this season and Kev is universally regarded as the best player in the league, so it's hard to make the case that playing them is somehow shitting the bed. And I love Bernie, but he gave away a silly penalty early in the game that set us up badly in the home derby last season. I think we've just lot to get it go, and let the pre-match doom merchants who always think he's picked the wrong team have this one because they've not had much to gloat about recently.

I take it this is the new happy-clapper thread, aye?
We've just won 21 games on the bounce and are 11 points clear at the top of the PL, in the final of the league cup, QF of the FA cup and almost in the QF on the CL. I think that allows people to take yesterdays result / performance with some perspective.

Didn't take long for the "pep out" brigade to resurface. He deflects pressure from the players by saying the rags played well and some on here think he's a united fan . Shit happens in derbies - we gave the rags a few bloody noses when we were mid table and they were winning leagues and cups, do you really think they care about those games at the end of the season??

Losing the derby is fucking shite... BUT!!

We've gone 28 unbeaten (almost 4 months, FOUR MONTHS), 21 games winning run (best ever, EVER!!!!), final of the league cup, all but through in the CL, quarters of the FA cup, best attack in the league, best defence in the league, 11 points clear and the also rans all have to play each other....... we were 10 clear last week and everything was rosy, now we're 11 clear and arses are flapping.

Catch. A. Fucking. Grip

We're gonna win the league! CTID
I have not heard a single City fan ever say they want Pep out. He is one of the best managers in football history but he is not beyond criticism.

Putting things into perspective is fine, 11 points clear , one final to play still in the champions league and fa cup yea great.

But I took one look at our team and thought shit wheres to pace in that 11, a quick counter attacking team and Pep picks the slowest 11 he could ?

So yes in perspective City are in a great position but that doesnt make yesterday ok ;)

And I havent read one post on here saying pep out . I want him to stay for ages minus the odd brain fart lol
