Petrol prices

I used to play the game of stop it exactly on £20.. damn £20.11, nevermind I'll put £25 in, etc.. now though I'm playing a different game, it's called staying at work untill the site shuts so I get full value out of my petrol.
There was a Welsh ice cream man on the radio today, saying he might have to stop selling ice lollies, and then a landscaper phoned in saying something similar.. people are struggling

You make a really good point. People who work part time hours will have seen a massive drop in income as it costs the same to get there wether you go in for 4 or 8 hours.

p.s landscapers shouldn’t be selling ice lollies anyways

I totally ge the argument about supermarket fuel and "branded" fuel. As I said in my earlier post. I personally had a bad experience with supermarket fuel. Since I've never gone back to supermarket fuel I've never had an issue. But yet my neighbour who has a 10 year old Citroën despatch generally puts supermarket fuel in and he's had zero issues.

i dont think we have seen the peak of this yet and wouldnt raise an eybrow if it hit £3 a Ltr, the Ukraine crisis is not going away and i think it will only escalate even further but however crank the clocks back in time and the biggest mistake was to close our refinery's and import fuel in the form of petrol and diesel rather than crude, many ask why we put our eggs in one basket and decided to buy from the Russians and it was simply to meet our Co2 targets no doubt probably put upon us by the EU,if we dont refine we dont pollute during the manufacturing process, a simple way to bend the rules as at the end of the day the fuel has to be refined if its here or Russia and will still pollute the earth, from what i remember the UK has around 4.5 years reserve of fuel in the form of petrol/diesel i think Borris has to start releasing some of this to keep prices down
It’s because we don’t like to plan for anything, as it might cost money, which we’d rather defer into the future. It’s an obsession with ‘just in time’ and using that to try to save cash by never having ’spare inventory’. Don’t stock PPE, which you get exposed for if there’s a pandemic (if only they’d been warned that a virus was the most likely threat).
Get rid of your refining capacity because it’s cheaper to import the finished product, until it’s not.
Get rid of your gas storage facilities and just have a pipeline going to Europe so we can pump gas over there now, when it’s cheaper than it’s been for 4 years. Meanwhile, as we’ve got no storage, we will have to pay for gas 6/12 months ahead so we can ensure supplies for winter. Oops….
Get rid of 25000 hospital beds, to the second lowest across Europe, because we can’t risk having any spare capacity in the system.
We’re run by people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing, who seemingly don’t realise that when there’s no food they can’t eat money!

So what’s the evidence from the mechanics then? If it’s a problem then they need to be recording the actual problem and logging which forecourts have been used and which vehicles are affected, otherwise it’s all just very weak evidence to me. Millions use supermarket fuel without any noticeable issues.
One of our Vauxhall combo's blew up after constantly using that crap Morrisons diesel who do we sue. It had only done 168 thousand miles an all wish we'd used that good BP stuff now might still be running :-)

I have watched drivers with amazement as they speed up and down to get to the same traffic lights as me as quickly as possible. Constantly speeding up then on the brakes. Its like they don't realise this is costing them silly money rather than tootle along
There's a load of young kids who hang about the local supermarket car park every evening in their modified cars speeding up and down literally burning money. I honestly don't know how they can afford it.

It does make me chuckle when I'm riding home on my bike and I see drivers racing up the hill or speeding between sets of lights. They seem to get really upset when they get stuck behind behind me but I'm actually saving them money.
