Petrol prices

We managed 56 mpg on a recent run by maintaining speed at 56mph and slipstreaming the Artics. I understand the closer you get the less the drag but we erred for safety by maintaining a reasonable distance. We also threw out unessasary gubbidge and kept feet off the accelerator on downhill sectors to neutrilize the auntie. Have other bored members taken to utitilising hypermiling techniques .. or do you just crack on regardless?
60 mph on cruise control.

29mpg in the beemer, switched to a 1.2 corsa and I'm getting 52mpg and that's with doing 77 on cruise control on the m6.

I've found that if you attach a rope to an hgv while the driver is off murdering a prostitute or chucking a bottle of piss in a Bush, you can get a free ride. Admittedly the destination is somewhat random, but that's half the fun.

As she's now started her first full time job, my daughter has just traded in her 2007 1.4 corsa and upgraded to a 2017 1.2 Seat Leon
It's a 23 mile commute each way to the lab she works at and from averaging 35 in the Corsa, she's getting 53 out of the Leon which is also £120 less road tax

I’ve no idea why people bother with cars full stop. Biggest waste of money in our lives. Even before these fuel price hikes, owning and running a car is like standing at your bedroom window continually throwing £50 notes out to the world.

Unless you have a disability and you’re unable to get about using your feet, a bike or public transport, you don’t need a car.
