Phil and Jack on the lash?

It's not gossip columns, it's the main story on BBC Sport
Just reported on BBC Breakfast, the same programme that left football out of its coverage after the 7-0 and whose Northern News did not even mention City extended their lead yesterday because they were too busy airing von Trapps complaints.

Majority of our players and footballers go out the main criticism from pep was them drinking to much alcohol and he could tell next day.

If they want to be true footballing professionals then they should be sent to live with David Silva for the rest of the season

If you read Pep’s comments, it is nothing to do with them going out. It is about the condition they turned up at work the next morning.

So he’s basically saying, “you can go out, but don’t get wankered - you’ve got graft in the morning”

They probably both got the flavour and got carried away. We’ve all done it, but they play a high stakes / performance game

Agree but some people can stop drinking after 2/3 drinks some can’t if your a footballer and can’t you shouldn’t drink at all to you retire.

This Brummie Primmadonna twat is starting to get on my nerves. The reports from him aren't good, and it feels like he's getting caught up in being a celebrity.

This isn't Aston Villa mate. You aren't the star, you aren't the big show. As of right now, you're a squad player and not much more.

Shape up son, because you aren't being professional enough, or living up to expectations.

Professional footballers living up (down?) to the stereotypes the media (and a lot of fans) have of them. Seriously lacking in intelligence and, to use an Irish expression, cop-on.
Half expected Kyle Walker to be there aswell .

The problem is rob hen not going out drinking it’s with because we are in a pandemic. Very irresponsible from both of them .

As others have said Why ? We are in a pandemic what were they thinking. I was abit worried about City signing Grealish because of some of the off field stories of him.
I hope Grealish isnt going to be a bad influence on Foden. Either way both should have known better.

Some right Mary Whitehouse types on here - the Covid element applies fairly equally to all our other players if they’re out travelling/socialising full stop IMO. Of course it would be better if they all isolated but the club needs to mandate that if there’s that expectation and they don’t seem to have done so. Their offence in Pep’s eyes seems to have been to have had a few too many and piss about in training next day - absolutely fair they get slapped son the wrist, dropped and called out to make up for it, end of story. Of course he has to run a tight ship and stamp this stuff out, that part of his job I managing a bunch of young lads. Some of the statements on here going way too far. I swear all the riches etc aside, a very small part of me feels sorry for these lads who are expected to be consummate professionals at all times - I know I couldn’t do it.

If they can’t do it there are plenty of other clubs for them where it’s not an issue. Villa, maybe. They are expected to be consummate professionals at City because we are the elite. To remain the elite you have to be serious about what you’re doing. You can feel sorry for them but tbh they DO have a choice. They either want to be the best they can be, for the best team on the planet, or they don’t. It’s perfectly possible for them to retain this lifestyle and be a professional footballer. Just not here. But they can choose that, it’s down to them really. Pep will try to help them both but they have to decide what they want to be.

Yeah fair, I get it, and they will know that as well. And the vast majority of the time they meet the expectation, and when they stray, 100% fair they get a firm slap on the wrist and reminder of what they are risking. Just that lads are lads from time to time and I can understand on a human level why these slips happen. Of course there are shades of grey here too and both have strayed to the indefensible/fuckwittery side of the line before now (e.g. Grealish drink driving and Foden’s behaviour on his first England call up).
