That he played the whole game is pleasing. A few have suggested he might be too young to do more than 60 minutes at that level at so young an age, and while he did make an error near the end, he didn't look at all like he was flagging.
He covered the most ground of anyone on the pitch at 11.96Km, pretty damned impressive all things considered.

I think many are underestimating his physicality and strength.

Well, it was Aidy Boothroyd who raised the point about it being hard for them at that age to maintain their standards over 90 minutes in the league compared to established players.

He played so well and was brilliant to watch. De Bruyne ran the show and Foden is obviously keen to show his skills and impress but managed to let De Bruyne do his thing and find pockets of space to operate in. Not everything came off but he had some great passing interchanges and bursts forward and was unlucky not to get a goal. The one thing he has over Silva is that goal threat. He can thread a pass but unlike Silva who generally has passing on his mind at all times, this lad wants to get a shot away and score goals.

This lad is the real deal, alright. You can sense the club trying like mad to include him as much as possible to make sure he stays, and also to get him in the England squad. Last night he slotted in perfectly. Quick, creative, aware, strong, an eye for goal...he's the future of England's midfield. He's everything the world cup team lacked.

Southgate (no one's fool) so clearly has his eye on him to solve that midfield issue - England's entire structure is built around mitigating the weak central midfield we have, and even in his comments about future players he's so obviously thinking that Foden is the one to allow England to have a proper midfield.

I think he might find himself going to Portugal this June.

Why was KDB giving it the “he will make his own decisions” speech in the after match interview? Saying “he should do what’s best for himself” etc. He’s on a 6 year deal, I’d like to think he’s already made his decision.
