Why would you chase a player who is running away from you ? Weirdos
Just the general hysteria. And there you have part of the problem that that kind of occasion generates. If a player wants and welcomes it, fine. If not, he should be left alone to get back in that tunnel. That seems like just decent, basic behaviour.
As for going for an opposition player after the final whistle, that is cretinous.
I'll always remember Keith Richards in his biography saying that being mobbed by girls like so many screaming harpies was the downright scary part of the job. You'd think it sounds like heaven. It isn't. It really isn't.
