Pitch invasions

Yes the pitch invasion happened. It shouldn’t have happened as the club asked the fans not to go on the pitch.

As you say, there seems to be a strange difference in what really happened from those in L2 and L3, compared to those in L1. Those in L2 and L3 seem to have been caught up in watching the general pitch invasion unfold and nothing else. And got annoyed because the presentation was delayed by 10-15 minutes. Whilst those in L1 who were involved in the pitch invasion or watched the pitch invasion know how it unfolded and how it was managed at pitch level by the club.

Pretty fair, that. Perhaps once you see same the footage the rest did, you might get what a good few are saying.

Fyi I have never once argued it should have been stopped, nor that pitch invasions should be binned off.

Just that there was no need for one yesterday, and the whole thing consequently was just a bit shit.

2012, it was all about the joy. Nearly every damn scene was iconic, so much to take in, so much emotion etc.

Last year, a tiny part got a bit ugly. It got negative attention, made the club look a bit bad as a result. But at the same time, for all that, there was plenty of scenes again of real joy and relief to the end of an intense game and race as a whole.

Yesterday's one had none of that. A pre-planned sterile token prance. It was missing that emotion which it was never going to have, given how the title was won. So while it is a great thing there was no ugly scenes, it was well contained and fairly short, there is also nothing at all to write home about. It was basically the fucking gogglebox of football, watching folk watch themselves on their devices. With no gripping imagery of joy like the previous years to balance the footage of people just being a bit twatty, because they feel like it.

The rest of the discussion, is really neither here nor there.

Regardless of people's perceptions from tier to tier, the facts are the facts. The club asked us not to go on, because they got fined £260k last time and were threatened with more serious action next time around. Many of our fans decided to ignore the request and did what they wanted regardless, while MANY MANY others in tier 1 had some self constraint and sat there as the upper tiers did. The excuses and reasoning on this thread are futile, the facts speak for themselves

I'm a pensioner mate and know how much the cost of living has gone up and all the other spurious nonsense and gobbledegook you are trying to bamboozle me with...I still maintain that some of the cost of the fine will be passed on to the fans and no amount of you going on and on about it will ever convince me otherwise.
I've lived 82 years and although I'm not a mathematical or accounting genius, I have as well as being a teacher for years, run my own company and have a son who handles the accounts for a multinational company so please don't try patronising me. :-)

I’m not pal and I apologise if you think that or if you’re offended.

All I’ll say on it, is from my point of view, I quite like it. I think it shows appreciation and passion, and it’s somewhat of a tradition. I guess it depends on how you look at it and by the way, I was at the game in SS level 1 yesterday and I didn’t go on the pitch. I’ve no problem with people disliking it either, but I wouldn’t never try and stop those that want to do it.

It depends on your point of view.

All saw was fans celebrating another PL title win and the 3rd in a row.

They went on the pitch in an orderly, but enthusiastic manner, celebrated for 10-15 minutes, and then went back to their seats. Done.

As far as I could see and tell there was no trouble in-front of the away fans, there was no trouble with the stewards, no City fans tried to break the stewards cordon in-front of the Main stand, and the goal at the SS end was intact, even though some people says one or two fans were trying to get to it.

The presentation went ahead without any problems. The players celebrated the title with the fans in-front of every stand, especially the South stand.

Don't worry, it takes a lot to really offend me. Life's too short I feel.
I like a good debate and can see both sides of this argument but must admit that my feelings are coloured by the way the fans invade the pitch, having been hurt in 93.20 and AV year. If they went on quietly without pushing and shoving fair enough.
We just have to agree to differ on the costings however. :-)

Thank you for your apology as well. Have a good summer. Best team in the land and all the world back next season!! :-)

As it happens I wasn't there yesterday as I've not been too good this season, I was all prepared to go though and risk it as it was last home game but then my daughter put on a birthday meal for me with grandchildren and great grandchildren and much as I love City they are more important! :-) :-)

Glad you said this as I had a very close view of this from row A in the NS. Within seconds of the whistle blowing the stewards all drew together as if they were going to stop people. But at the same time there were all these stools that appeared that looked very much like they were there to facilitate people climbing over, and as the fans started getting out of their seats, the stewards all parted as one and said absolutely nothing. It looked very much like the club had taken a pragmatic approach that it was going to happen whatever they said, but if it was gonna happen, it had to happen in a way that minimised risk to the fans, staff, players and infrastructure. I might be wrong, but I saw no-one mobbing players and certainly no-one abusing the goalposts. I even saw stewards chatting amiably with parents who were helping their kids over and fans on the way back. It was, in short, the most civilised pitch invasion I have ever seen. But with that drone hovering over I was not taking part, as the club will have to make an example of some fans to assure the authorities they are acting responsibly, and in these days we all have enough to worry about without a ban from City being added to the pile, so I wasn't going to let that be me or one of

You we’re doing really well until the last sentence:)

Saw some right pricks on the pitch yesterday, from fat baldies waving banners, fucking idiots trying to slide on their knees while being videod. To the fucking Jack Grealish wannabe with kid and wife looking like they were on Blackpool prom. If fans want to invade the pitch just let kids on.

What about the match day ticket fans?

Corporate?

Hospitality?

Our new (Hong Kong) supporters who probably went on to the pitch for the first time?(loved it, took selfie pictures, videos, and sent them back to their relatIves in Hong Kong)

And you really think City are going to go through footage and identify every single fan who went on to the pitch, old, young, children, families, and cancel all their season tickets?

Again, absolutely bizarre. Do people actually think sensibly and seriously about things before posting a comment?

I have to get off this thread before it turns me mad.
Corporate? Hospitality?

Haha throwing those groups in to try and defend the idiots.

It is not the most difficult job to do and it only takes catching 100 season ticket holders to start making it affective. There are no more home games so at least it will give them something to do until next season starts.
