PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

He's in court all day today. Hopefully tomorrow.

On an unrelated note, Soriano should go at the end of this season. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the PL investigations, all of this stuff has happened under his watch, and City have flown too close to the sun too many times in the pursuit of maximum commercial growth.

I am not a "Soriano is a god" kind of guy at all, but that's a weird take.

I don't think it's saying there's no right of appeal, just specifying where/how a club would appeal. (I'm not a lawyer, as I said - just giving my interpretation of the language.)
Me neither mate, missus is a solicitor both kids studying law, the days of me being the smartest person in the room (if I ever was) are well and truly gone!

I can’t help but think there’s more to this than meets the eye when you take into account the Government’s White Paper on football regulation and the recent criticism of PL spending by large European clubs fearing their leagues are becoming inferior by comparison to the all mighty PL. Especially when you consider Chelsea spent more than the rest of Europe in the January transfer window.

It also begs the question what the motivation was in the summer just gone in selling Jesus, Zinchenko and Sterling and the recent Cancelo loan deal.

Conspiracy theories will likely abound but I can’t help thinking this is more about politics than rule breaches. In any event, I suspect this will drag on for a year or two.

Is that the UK law standard?

I thought it was beyond any reasonable doubt, or something. There is often reasonable doubt in these financial cases.
I think it's 'beyond reasonable doubt' in a criminal case, but the burden of proof isn't as high in a civil case. Not sure how it's worded but it's along the lines of reasonable standard I think.

Aren't most of the charges from before Soriano's time though? It'd have been Garry Cook and Co for most of this stuff.

There's charges for every season since 2008/2009. That in and of itself is insane. The level of breakdown in diplomacy that there needs to be for this to happen is off the scale. Yes, City have had a target on their backs for ages, but we still need to exist and co-exist in the PL. UEFA are a different kettle of fish, but at home we needed a much better tactic than "fuck the fuck off we're better than you and we've got more lawyers than you".

I have just spoken to a friend inside CFG.

They aren't worried, and neither should we be.

There are no surprises. Khaldoon will burn down the entire Premier League house if it comes to it.
Not doubting a word your saying, but if it is so clear cut on our side, why has it gone on so long, I would think it's in the clubs interest to sort this, it does our reputation and the owners Nation's reputation so much damage.

And again this must be costing and will cost the PL ten's of millions in legal fees alone, not sure they are as daft as to continue for no reason.
