I never realised this "local club" phenomenon existed until I spoke to a work colleague years ago who told me he was a ManUre supporter, but his local team were Scarborough.

They all want to be emotionally invested in the PL & experience the big CL nights. It's realistically never gonna happen for Scarborough, hence why they choose a big PL team to support, so they can jump on board PL & CL arguments that really have fuck all to do with them.

No youre wrong, to a point. They are looking to fill a void in there lives that comes down to success.
If it was just about filling a PL void why dont more support fulham or palace? Why all united, liverpool and increasingly us?

No they are sad needy pricks who need to fill some empty success space in their lives

I see the same pattern. If there are rumours that we are prepping with the PL to allow them not to look like clueless corrupt shits, then it makes sense to lay the ground in this way innadvance, to maximise the vindication/avoid rubbishing of it in the public facing forums.

You take advantage to build trust and capital when you are in the driving seat.

There are two or three things pointing in the same direction here...so I'm feeling it's on.

No idea to be honest but RAWK is their biggest independent forum, they have a large fan base and the majority of them are not from Merseyside but from anonymous non descript places they seem to want to be part of some imaginary scouse mythos. they want to identify with the culture

We all know that the internet attracts sundry weirdos and fruitcakes and LFC seems to have attracted them in some number their whole identity is tied up in the aforementioned scouse mythos, even when things are going well they still need an enemy, this time it's us, there will be others that's how cults work

I know plenty of Liverpool fans (including family) who are decent normal people (same for United fans) and banter is just part of football culture but when your life starts get effected by the game to the extent that you want a perceived rivals stadium blowing up or death and injury to them, I would say that it's time to give up the game your mental stability and happiness is worth far more than what is just a passionate pastime for the majority

Like I said before they knew exactly what they were doing when they set this hare running and it's going to take a herculean effort to calm it all down again

Yeah - all that was said on here was:
