PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

There's no kangaroo court. The PL has appointed a commission to hear their allegations, and the commission is headed by a very experienced KC, Murray Rosen. He will recruit two experts to hear the evidence with him, and the PL will appoint counsel to lead their case. City have already appointed counsel to present their defence. There are loads of experienced KCs involved on all sides. It won't be a stitch up with a predetermined outcome.
What about the so-called independent panel for Everton, two of whom worked for rival PL clubs. They somehow agreed with the request by Masters for a 10 point deduction. Just naked corruption in plain view.

I think you are overreacting a tad here. We are in effect members of a private club - the PL - and we have to abide by their rules when we agree to be members. We can't go taking them to court because we don't agree with their rules. To change the rules, we would need to get a majority of fellow member clubs to agree with us and then propose a rule change.

We are at the stage of having been charged, and a commission has been appointed to look at the evidence. The next step could be years away, so there is no point worrying about it now.
But the PL keep changing the rules without any agreement with the clubs. The Everton sanction criteria was made up by Masters. This is a farce.

Can you give an example of an organisation getting billions for reputational damage?

Although admittedly no legal expert, unlike most on here, I'd imagine an organisation would have to prove some quantifiable loss to gain any compensation. Other than a few ruffled feathers I can't imagine Etihad or others could actually present a viable case.

Dominion Voting systems got nearly $800m out of News Corp / Fox.

Etihad Airways PLC...
One thing learnt from the EFC ruling is the level of resolution the IC are forced to document and publish in the public domain. So forget all the vague rule number quoting in the charges. They will have to say unequivocally that the executives of MCFC and Ethihad Airways conspired to falsify accounts and artificially inflate sponsorship fees. They will also have to publish the compelling evidence that proved the PL charge. In addition, Ethihad have paid over a hundred million to sponsor a PL and ECL team, not just an EFL team.
The idea that Ethihad would not have grounds to sue the PL is ridiculous. Same applies for Etisalat and Aabar.

They may also ‘finger’ Mancini and he would be in a position to litigate if he feels his reputation has been sullied.

Correct re the burden of proof However the KCs will want to be absolutely certain that the evidence is 100% correct it’s not some corner shop they are judging upon the people involved couldn’t be any more powerful and influential with stellar reputations The KCs have worked hard for their reputations and will not be prepared to damage them
If people think the IC is going to give us a fair hearing and punishment they are deluded.
Should they smash us with penalties then how will that negatively affect their reputation given that everyone out there thinks we’re guilty anyway. Make no mistake about it, they will hit us for six even if only foundry guilty for the most minor of offenses.
I am seriously uncomfortable that our fate is in the hands of these three individuals.
This needs to be looked at through the legal system, non negotiable.
