PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

If the Forest thing is true it just shows what a farce it is, there's no other businesses in the World that's finances are as dissected as those of football clubs, often by people who could potentially be informing rivals, the clubs financial plans, it stinks and is totally wrong and is totally anti-competitive.
That's why we have to have an Independent regulator for football. The PL will be left with the job of organising football without the regulatory powers.

The word charge is misleading because this is not a criminal case. The press keep using the phrase that the PL have "charged" City. The PL is a sporting body and has accused us of breaching their rules. It is wrong to use the word charge in this context. The media like to hype things up.
Hence why the PL or UEFA won't use the word "fraud". To do so would trigger a criminal investigation & take the whole process out of their hands.

The PL know what they're accusing us off isn't fraud in UK Law, so if this farce was treated criminally, it wouldn't even get past the CPS & would be over.

Breaching the rules of a private members club, & breaking UK Law are two totally different things. It's total self serving bollocks by UEFA & the PL, at the behest of the G14/Sky four plus Spuds.

The aim has always been to smear us. It started with behind closed doors conversations involving our commercial rivals and the PL hierarchy. Masters knew the City witchunt would go nowhere but bowed to pressure and now he can't pull out without losing his job. Ironically Masters and his EFL counterpart Rick Parry are due for another grilling tomorrow in the Select Committee (on a different matter). But Masters knows he is finished whatever happens.

Exactly. The reputational damage is more than enough. If certain charges are deemed time-barred & we're found guilty of non-compliance, it's job done.

Our reputation will have been besmirched, with our opposition claiming we got away with the bulk of the breaches on statute of limitations technicalities.

Bastards!

I've not been on this thread for a while, but there's been a growing number of people talking about the merits of FFP (or P&S rules) and why it was introduced. I'd never seen this when City were the only club stifled by it (other than by Martin Samuel) but following the comments by the Newcastle board and Eddie Howe it's started to gain a bit of traction. Some are quick to shut it down but there have been plenty who have rightly acknowledged it suited the clubs with the highest revenue at the time. Some say that's just pure luck at the time it went in, others realise it's more than that and those clubs had sway to get it introduced. Unfortunately, there are plenty of Newcastle fans even who see this as unfair on their club, particularly when we just got away with doing what we wanted. Even though they see for themselves the hurdles in their way, rather than see common ground in us and what we had to do, they jump on our back as well.

We were able to bridge the gap as much as possible pre-FFP and now are in a position to comply with P&S rules because of our revenue. In many ways, we show exactly why the system is so wrong in the first place and on the pitch we're probably benefitting from it the most!

They're not included. The top clubs will either join a superleague or start a new version of the premier league.
Ah right, I see what you mean now. Well it's entirely possible (if not probable) for European competition. But whilst they control the domestic game, I don't see them leaving.

Love FFP. Benefits City more than anyone else.

Clubs who tried to put us in a straightjacket, didn't legislate for Pep making City the huge force we are, nor tying their own hands behind their backs.

I look forward tomorrow when Masters and Parry go in front of Ministers to explain why they haven't reached a financial arrangement with the Football League.

Popcorn TV.

Not bothered in the least. The opinions of Jimmy_LFC_JFT97 and BillyYNWA matter little to me. If we are not found to have broken any rules then that's really all that matters.
