PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'm puzzled as to why we'd set ours at 85% if UEFAs is 70%? Surely you need to go for the 70% or end up doing a Crystal Palace (sort of) and getting banned if you qualify?

The logic is to reduce the gap between the clubs playing in Europe every year and the rest of the league.

It would give Everton for example who don’t have European competition money the ability to keep up with the clubs that do.

It’s not a bad idea but there’s a group of clubs who are sitting top half of the table that will have to decide if they should stick to 70% or spend more to compete risking a problem if they get into Europe unexpectedly

So safe to say that both sides in a legal tribunal are confident that the outcome will be favourable to themselves. Like both boxers claiming victory at the final bell.
"We're going to court but to be honest we haven't got a leg to stand on".
Said no Complainant or Plaintiff ever.

No - I don’t like it much either mate.

Let’s hope they are guilty of a fatal over confidence based on the general levels of arrogance that most comments the PL has made on this matter have been characterised by.
Remember how they claimed to have won APT1 only for it to come out that they hadn't

You heard it here first.

The punishment will be
Being sold to a family of American leeches that don't know you can play football without a helmet.
Having a stream of imbecilic managers, each one more inept than the past.
Having to pay four times the value of any player.
Having a fan base that despite all the evidence to the contrary, still think they are relevant.

They will not be happy times.
Have you checked all 5765 pages to be sure you are the first to say this? ;)
At this point I would think it's impossible to say something nobody has said before.

Exactly - that was one of the points I was making in my post.

I’d expect them to say nothing, and come out with some bland, anodyne statement about waiting for the verdict before passing comment.

They didn’t do this.
As a matter of interest in what capacity were you meeting them and how did it come around to discussing the case, were the aware you were a City fan

So when the new rules come in they can try and charge us again can they not?
After all they've gone after us with the old rules, they are that thick and anti city that it wouldn't surprise me if they tried the charges all over again.

(Posted with tongue firmly in cheek..)

I don’t think the change from PSR to aligning with uefa rules is a new thing.

This was talked about happening a while back and as far as I was aware clubs had been working to try to ensure they was inside the percentage needed for when the prem changes.
anchoring or some bollox's simular to lowest clubs was also talked about

Well, the present charges only go up to 2018 as that's when they charged us and they can't just add each season as they go along. So there's that... ;)

Reading the comments it's all City's fault that PSR is being dropped because apparently with have bribed the Premier League to drop the charges. Proof that their campaign to tarnish City has worked with the masses.

Yes, there will probably be a new version, most likely modeled after UEFA, and if we're unlucky it will mean we're back to square one.

We must already comply with the Uefa one as it is, given we are in the CL, so don't think that should be an issue. It was the PL version we had an issue with and demonstrated was unlawful, and then accepted a tweaked version via the settlement. However long for.

I thought this was planned to come in this season but when we took the premier league to court over illegal apt it was suspended for a season

Well, APT rules will form part of the SCR rules even if SCR is scrapped so maybe they waited for clarity on the APT case before changing. Not like the PL to wait for confirmation of legality before doing anything though.

What gets me, is that the PL (apparently) say they are coming in line with UEFA rules by doing this. But, unless I am very wrong, and I may be, UEFA rules still include a PSR component that clubs in European competitions will have to meet, so I have no idea what they are talking about / doing .....

waiting for david gill to finish reading and altering to suit

Sorry mate - we went through this at length yesterday, and I’d prefer not to share the context.

They were aware I’m a City fan though - yes.
I’m guessing they were playing to the audience (you). No way these guys are opening their mouths like this in a public way and yet no media leaks. Just not having it. They know nothing.

City agreeing to the new APT rules at a cost to the EPL shows how significant it was
