PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Having read it, it looks like the video is based on the MEN article, rather than the full document.

I may be wrong, but it's certainly not as positive as the article or video.

Throughout, they do suggest that the bar is high for the Premier League, but they also suggest that it may be a lot more of a challenge for City than the UEFA case, and conclude by summing up City's position, "Put simply, defending this claim would require the deployment of enormous resources, intuitive legal reasoning, and persuasion beyond known boundaries." Which doesn't sound particularly easy.
You are not wrong. I read it and thought these guys think we have next to no chance, which suggests they think the PL can prove unequivocally we have done wrong, which is no mean feat.

How they know this without detailed access to the specific proof the allegations are true I can’t begin to understand and is one for @projectriver

Just goes to show that if you only read the headline you can get completely the wrong end of the stick. I’m more worried about the outcome now than I was before reading the full document which is the opposite of what the guy in the video is saying.

The thing that gives me most hope is how angry and confident Khaldoon is but then perhaps that’s his job…to keep us all positive with our eyes firmly on the prize.

There are quite a few parts where they suggest that the Premier League will have a hard job proving anything too.

I'm no legal expert, but it does appear to be many pages of fence sitting. I wonder if it's simply a dive into what kind of legal precedents, or laws that will be used, rather than anything more, and as a layperson, I'm skipping over that when reading.

Agreed, but that conclusion…..

Didn’t enjoy that as a read, probably cos it’s the first article I’ve seen from the ‘other side’ that wasn’t full of lazy, cor blimey, rubbish, albeit it contains quite a bit of speculation. Could do with Stefan dropping by to calm a few nerves……

I notice that one of the authors appears to be a fairly partisan Manchester United fan, and the other follows the likes of Nick Harris, Miguel Delaney and Tariq Panja on Twitter. Not saying that they’re not necessarily impartial, of course.

You are and you are correct. I thought the conclusion was a bit strong! Good detective work.

What a strange day.

I’ve been following him and I believe he has great potential. Very articulate and knowledgable. There are some good boys on YouTube and he is another one. We can’t have too much access to YouTubers putting it out there for us all to enjoy.
I say let’s all subscribe to these fellows and help to knock Goldbridge off his Manure perch.

I've no issue with the guy who has posted the video - positive, confident, 100% pro-City etc. I wish him well and I see he has 5000 subscribers to his channel so has got a lot of support.

The problem is FFP/CAS/PL Charges stuff is very complex and highly technical. Unfortunately some of his opinions were misleading and in some cases factually incorrect. But hey ho, if people enjoy it that is great.

Plumley has written a book with his sheffield hallam colleague Dr Rob Wilson. Wilson was quoted in the original Der Spiegel leaks and is often "rent a quote" for the likes of Delaney.

yep file in the bin. The irony of a City fan doing a positive piece relating to what these guys came up with albeit with the MEN in the middle confusing matters. Had me taken in.
