PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Just watched it Stephen. As I expected, you came across very eloquently. And as a person who knows what they are talking about. You also didn’t let Jordan ruffle you when he did his usual butting in, repeating comments he’s made previously about City. He had nothing new to add. Whereas you did.

Forest won the EC when it was more difficult to win (one bad game and your out) with an elite manager, Everton have a great history. For Masters to call them "small " clubs is unforgivable and clearly illustrates his lack of professionalism
Although you are correct, the history of any club isnt relevant as to the size of the club and also the size of the club isnt relevant, the fact is as an overseer and supposed arbitrator of the rules he is supposed to treat all clubs equally and even handedly so to refer to them as small clubs shows he isnt fit for purpose, can you imagine if the police started referring to a certain set of people as thieving, murdering, jibbing, whining grief hungry cunts there would be outrage because while we all know who they are talking about the arbitrator of rules have to treat everyone even handedly regardless of perception.

I think we would, and should, all join in sending a vote of thanks and congratulations to Stefan for an excellent explanation. Everything he said, he has said before but the arguments are still convincing and his delivery avoids, of course, the temper and frustration which pervades many of our posts. Excellently presented despite the interruptions from Simon Jordan, who really has trouble with questions of disclosure.

Before our hearing at CAS I posted in to ask why so many fans - and so many City fans- seemed to trust UEFA's claims of our "guilt" rather than City's protestations of innocence. Claims of a UEFA "smoking gun" were unfounded and we were right to trust those who own and run our club. CAS reached the same conclusion and what Stefan reminded us of is that CAS drew attention to the gravity and scale of the charges and concluded that it was impossible to believe that so many people of the highest integrity were prepared to lie, deceive and cheat such a large number of reputable professionals over such a long period of time. But this is what the PL are hoping to do. But not in court, simply in an independent commission. This is, as Stefan said "a very big call". Hearing Stefan I felt a surge of renewed confidence and reassurance.
No doubt our brief will major on this aspect. It does seem so unlikely.

Maybe so, but he's got a legal background too, so I suppose he's used to the underhand tactics people try and use to derail the opposition. Maybe he was in lawyer mode, as much as we would have liked him to respond differently, he's trying to be super objective about this. I see the logic in that, without that he will be dismissed because of his links and who he supports but I don't think he was expecting them to do him so dirty and misrepresent his points by only taking the soundbites they like. They have little interest in objectivity as an organisation IMO.

While we are on the subject of objectivity. Simon was so desperate to pull Stefan up on something, that he corrected him by saying 'objective' and was comfortably smug with himself about it afterwards... Which is bad enough on it's own, it's petty and unnecessary when you know what they meant. He misspeaks himself a lot and he'd take it personally if someone did that to him. He'll even complain when someone interrupts him back... He has everything his way on that platform. The thing is, having listened back to what Stefan said, I'm fairly certain he said "but someone that's objective" after all, it was Simon who misheard it because of how fast it was spoken.

Maybe it's just me though, what do you hear?:

Whopper either way.

Jordan behaves like a child in that interview. Trying to one up the interviewee Stephan all the way through. Its quite funny and not a great look when you observe it like that tbh.

If we are found guilty. The prem is calling some pretty big organisations into question and calling out someone for lying because that's what it ammounts to, is pretty damn serious shit. If, and there's that little word again we are found innocent, then some big players are for the chop in the FA. Just hoping the initials FA stands for fuck all in evidence.!!
I get that mate, but the gist of their accusations have all been addressed through UEFA/CAS. Why is there this case/115 charges if it’s been proven incorrect to a sufficient degree?

So what is the outcome for the PL, if and when we are found not guilty?

Oh, we couldn't prove it, they are probably guilty, oops, carry on as normal chaps

I agree , its fan speak. For a person in his position that's a massive mistake and is clearly reflective of his and the PL biased thought processes as well as showing his lack of understanding of recent football history.

Thank you Stefan for the insightful information in the face of SJIAC.
Jordan is merely a microcosm of every Rag and Dipper up and down the country.
Social Media is full of them bleating 115 charges. When you ask them to provide evidence their answer is “Inflated sponsorship and paying the Manager under the counter”
That is the level of naivety we all have to endure day to day.
Thank you again SB for showing him up.

He shouts people down with an assertive voice that protects the illusion that he's the smartest guy in the room.
A media savvy guy like Eddie Hearn played a losing hand and still wiped the floor with him. Stefan is polite and therefore only managed a draw.
A draw?? He wiped the floor with him. Made him look like a ten year old whining “It’s not fair.”

What I don't understand is this, and maybe @projectdriver can help me out if I'm being thick.

Why are we all not going with the theory (instead of all this banging our collective heads on walls).. ...that if what we are charged with is true then the PL couldn't have charged us under football rules they would have had to report us to HMRC and the serious fraud squad?

This would surely have been a better way of explaining what's going on to all the haters and the uneducated press.

It was a comment to demonstrate his objectivity- if we were guilty of these fraud accusations then we would likely be relegated but he stressed to a huge extent, how serious the accusations are & how many organisations it radiates out to - and he stated that the club have repeatedly said we are not guilty - & as such the IC would find it impossible to prove without huge legal repercussions from all parties.
But that’s not selected for the news sound bites of course.
Sorry, I wasn't meaning Stefan bud.

No matter the outcome, we're still going to beat with the stick by moronic social media attention seekers and knuckle dragging armchair followers of the red shirt has-been's.

Once we're cleared of any serious wrong doing it'll be 'bungs' this and 'brown envelopes' that. The perception of us being cheats, in the minds of the bitter and thick won't change and we'll all still be recipients of barbed comments both online and in person.

Personally, I don't give too much of a toss what comes out of the mouth of some no-mark who has no idea what it's like to actually support a team and I imagine the same can be said for most blues.

What does really interest me though is the next move for the red shirt has-been's once we're cleared of any serious wrong doing.

Where do they go from there once they realise that we probably can't be touched for at least another decade with regard challenging for the major trophies? Another decade like the one we've just had will probably put us in a league of our own financially (domestically at least).

European Super League?

We saw the outrage amongst the supporters the last time that was put forward. It'd possibly kill the match going support and would owners/executives of those clubs really go down that route again?

In a way its good for the PL because its out of their hands, the verdict that is.

I assume it will be carry on as normal, don't think City would seek any compensation. I think we'd want a bold statement put out though that we aren't guilty.

Getting a bit ahead of ourselves there though.
