PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Very volatile situation this. People latching onto up random football accounts, people hearing rumours after every home match, people taking mainstream media messages as preceding a good verdict. Yet here we are with no announcement. Pep saying he hopes to have a decision this month means we're going to have a ramp up of false alarms daily.

I bet we're at least 4-6 weeks away

If there was any chance the outcome looked anywhere near favourable for the PL, certain journalists would have been pre-briefed, and we'd have seen a drip, drip from the likes of Holt, Deloony and others over the last 48 hours.

This is being very carefully managed by the PL, and I suspect they are sh**ting themselves over damage limitation and potential fall-out. Masters could be gone by the end of the week, if not today.

Honestly the mental gymnastics that Gildbridge goes to, Apparently we are playing shit on purpose this season so people will go easy on us regarding the 115 case. Guy needs a good slap.

On CAS verdict day we all knew when the Judgement was coming out the night before. Then it was published at 10am on a Monday.morning IIRC. I suspect this will be the same, it won't just be a bolt from the blue.

To be honest, if you had an agenda to push Goldbridge, Carragher et al would be a god send as unfortunately people just listen to what they hear and then repeat it without question.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an antiode with fact checks on the other side (as of yet) anyway.

It isn't technically correct because that isn't how accountancy works.

City's financial statements are audited by an independent firm of accountants who provide positive assurance that they are materially true and fair.

The starting point isn't just 'innocent until proven guilty', it's 'already proven innocent so you better have some extraordinary evidence to the contrary'
I have always thought this was the killer point in our favour. For ten plus years our finances have been poured over by dozens (perhaps scores) of independent auditors from multiple sources, all our partners doing due diligence, some of our biggest sponsors. And a lot of this activity happened after we had already been acccused of being dodgy so they knew where to look. But no one spotted anything. So all these leading firms, some of the most prestigious in their field, are either totally incompetent or they are in on the fraud. No chance.

If this article in the Daily Mail is anything to go by, it looks like the above might be true. It looks like they're starting some new spin to undermine the case in the first place...

It was published at 10pm last night, a few hours after that tweet on X.

Am I reading too much into this article?
Whoever “wins”,’ a Premier League chief executive told me on Monday, ‘it is the ultimate worthless victory. There can be no winners. There are only losers both ways.

We've won then.

Sadly he’s probably not wrong though, we’ve lost the public case, 99% of people think the 2 options are we get relegated or we bribed the PL.

Still, it is encouraging to hear them downbeat.

I'm getting a 5pm Wednesday feeling.
Not based on anything but my own gut.

Wouldn't like to say for sure, but the Holt piece sounds like the seeds of a damage limitation exercise. You can be sure if the PL had won, he wouldn't be saying there were no winners. He'd be shouting from the rooftops the PL had won. If it's good news, City need to come down hard on these people to make sure the club doesn't need to go through all this again.

There have been some incredibly dodgy goings on at the PL down the years involving certain clubs, referees and players and what our club is being accused of comes nowhere near.
