PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I appreciate my post wasn’t delivering the feelgood hit of positive news that everyone wants to hear, which is why people are so quick to attack it - but if you actually take a moment to read the words, rather than just leap straight to a defensive position, you’ll see I’m not claiming this was some exclusive leak of the final result that I was privy to before anyone else.

At no point did I say this.

The impression I got from these guys when discussing the situation was one of bullish confidence in both the PL’s position, and dismissive confidence at the lack of credibility behind any of City’s arguments or evidence to refute the claims.

But at no point did anyone say the result was in, and they were speaking from a position of knowledge of the final outcome.

For me, it was mostly interesting because it suggested - contrary to claims on here - that the result isn’t with either party yet.

Because I would expect these guys to know if it was.

And that was mainly why I posted it.

It was at as time when a few posters were claiming the parties had either received the result, or it was imminent.

And that’s definitely not the impression I got from these conversations I had with these two.
This post is mental especially:

“The impression I got from these guys when discussing the situation was one of bullish confidence in both the PL’s position, and dismissive confidence at the lack of credibility behind any of City’s arguments or evidence to refute the claims.”

Dismiss audited accounts?
Dismiss binding legal sporting commercial contracts?

No evidence to refute claims? lol the league had a few emails and grass cutting… hardly earth shattering evidence.

Above all else, cogent level of proof required.

The more you explain, the less worried I become. Ineptitude doesn’t even cover it.

Beavis and butthead would not be high enough to receive any real news on 115.

The league is fucked if this small interaction is anything to go by…

Fwiw, I have always thought the club has manipulated the PL brilliantly into a situation where they had to choose between "embarrassment" in having to close a four year investigation without charges and "embarrassment" in having their allegations roundly countered in a public document after a hearing.

The PL chose the latter. More fool them, imho.
It’s not very often I disagree with you mate but this “embarrassment” also follows City around, simultaneously undermining us, so imo there’s no way City would encourage such a situation.

I don't know, wasn't it said khaldoon would rather spend £30m on lawyers or something.
This is one way of doing it.
What's pannick on £5k a day.;)
30m to “embarrass” the PL? The competition we play in and dominate?

I can’t see any evidence the PL feel even remotely embarrassed. In fact, if some reports are to be believed, they are “bullish”.

Your assertion doesn’t hold up, imo mate.

Mate - I’m honestly surprised you’re surprised that a bunch of senior PL Execs are guilty of displaying overconfidence bordering on arrogance when discussing deeply questionable legal cases they’ve decided to pursue against their own member Clubs.

They’ve done this repeatedly in pretty much every single case they’ve pursued (and lost) over the last 12/24 months - even continuing after they’ve lost in some cases, including that of our APT ruling.

I don’t know why them taking this stance would be remotely shocking to anyone.

APT2 was settled because the PL acquised on the Etihad deal.

The Etihad deal was a major part of the "115 case".

Clearing a deal with which they're about to be told by a commission was fraudulent doesn't really make sense

Yes. Plus they would know that any attempted chicanery could be swiftly pursued by many dollars worth of investigation and ruin...
Up to now their allegations are placed firmly at City.
Maybe the third parties we are alleged to have colluded with would feel the need to protect their own name and reputation with UK legal action.

Do they know what City are accused of? I’m curious if they are bullish from knowledge, or institutional bias. It’s quite clear from the ATP that City are held with suspicion, in fact we are considered dishonest & burden of proof appears to be leveled at us to prove otherwise.

I have another question for the outcome….

Would the premier league have a plan for possible outcomes. Let’s imagine City are cleared, something no journalist has considered. You’d expect resignations from the board, particularly Masters. How quickly would this follow the result & golden handshake / compensation approved.

I’m imagining an EGM but it can’t drag on.

Not surprised but in a way you have confirmed that the whole institution is overseen by incompetent buffoons. The well publicised cases v Everton, Forest, leicester etc while ignoring the blatant rule bending of the rags and the chavs. You can add Arsenal and the favourable loans system they clearly took advantage of to compete again.

It’s like var now, made up to control a narrative depending on what club needs what. The next joke is scraping PSR rules to go in line with Europe. They should have been doing this from the start but it now helps the rags so we will change and squirm our way out of the last set of illegal rules aimed at tartgeting certain clubs.

Weak and prone to outside influence. Masters sums this up and whomever is spouting to you.

Coming up against the power of Abu Dhabi? There was only going to be one winner.

You don’t take a Toy gun to a stand off between a political and financial juggernaut. You run away, the clubs who hate us had that chance after CAS. They still can’t accept we were just better during our period of overwhelming dominance. The stranglehold pep had on his opponents during that time led to this. Thanks badly -:)

We didn’t get into a deep dive on the case, so I can’t say how exhaustive their knowledge on any of this stuff is - but they definitely seemed informed, and clearly understood the broad arguments in play.

But I’d expect that, given their positions.

This is a very high profile case for them.

On the second part of your post - you’d certainly imagine so, but they do seem to run a colossally arrogant operation, with a blind conviction of their own rightness, so nothing would surprise me!

I think colossally arrogant sums them up perfectly which makes me think they haven’t considered the day after the result.

Ehh ! The whole of Europe think we are cheats. We’ve had years of negative media coverage without any push back from City which has made a shit situation even worse.

We even had the boss of La Liga calling us cheats yet again yesterday - with not a murmur in response from City.

Absolutely ridiculous thinking this is some kind of elaborate PR strategy from City.

I would say we could not have played it any worse and our PR team if they even exist have made an absolute arse in virtually everything they have done for years.
