PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

But all of the things you'd use to measure this do show the growth you'd expect. Shirt sales, social media engagement, Netflix deal, new stand and general growth in "tourists", international ratings. All up, some massively since 115/treble.
You’re right but I loved the club just as much when we were just Liddle Ol’ Siddy.

None of which means we wouldn't have had even bigger growth if the charges and negative media publicity didn't exist.

Tomorrow is it then?

Makes sense to me. No games. International break. Pep won't be doing his pressers. The press will be briefed i presume to keep the silly questions down to a minimum or be told to not ask about it.

Really hope so as it will be rolling into 3 years next February.
Nearly 3 years of a orchestrated smear campaign..

Do they show the growth we'd "expect", or do the measurements show growth?

It's not something we can quantify but a smear campaign by definition is aimed at damaging reputation and therefore growth.

It's my last post on this point as it could result in going round in circles, but in my opinion the charges and campaign around them have undoubtedly stunted growth in any key metric anyone could care to think of, regardless of how much growth there has actually been.

That's just the size of the ground, which is currently being addressed. By this time next year we will be in top 12 attendances in Europe.
It’s not mate. Early champions league games and run of the mill premier league game still have unsold tickets. The club don’t help, I know, but after the success we’ve had we should have more ticket demand. And that’s still the most important metric.

Perhaps, but I think it's very hard to reasonably argue that growth has been harmed if all the KPIs are above expectations and predictions and the only evidence we have to counter that is vibes.

It's also extremely difficult to actually purchase tickets due to the onerous membership requirements, which needs to be factored in.

I’m basing on the fact that spurs, Everton and West Ham have been shit for years yet get as many or more fans in the stadium than we do after many years of trophies and superstars.
Not sure what you mean because our attendance hasn’t changed & we can only sell the current number of seats in the stadium. Also, we will be getting more when new stand opens up.

But you actually said
don’t think our fanbase has increased as it should over the last few year

I thought you meant globally because our sponsorship & shirt sales disputes that

You’re not acknowledging the key point: attendances (and hospitality) is the biggest and most significant KPI of all.

Yes - that’s why I was confused by the posters comment

So I suppose I'm working on the assumption that none of us have access to internal KPIs, but if they were below expectations then Puma wouldn't have signed the deal they just signed. The Netflix deal (top ten streamed worldwide upon release) was an in-house documentary so well above expectations. But we'll never know, I suppose. Perhaps if we clear the charges the club can seriously think about damages, but we have record breaking shirt sales the last few years so you'd really have to think carefully about proving even more record breaking shirt sales we have missed out on.

I'd like to see a massive headline tomorrow "Premier League Victorious". The premier league have had a massive victory in the 115 case against Manchester City. The PL has investigated the allegations against biggest asset and are relieved to find that Manchester City have acted entirely within the rules. Every allegation was investigated in great depth and shown to be false. This is a huge victory for the Premier League as it proves that the last 15 years of English football were played out fairly on a level playing field. The case has proved such a drain on Richard Masters that he has decided to stand down and give someone with fresh ideas a chance. In a further victory the Premier League have managed to line Ferran Soriano up as Dicks replacement.

You simply can not compare big London Clubs with Northern Clubs.

The SE has had a huge explosion in population and wealth compared to us.

Millions of working age people needing something to follow.

Spuds were getting 36k until the new ground opened

Wham getting 35k until given a free ground with nominal expenditure, compared to our deal.

Everton have just moved to a new ground and are getting around 52k.

City and Everton will never surpass their glory hunting media loved city rivals in attendance (*Dippers maybe as their crowds have never been great historically and plummet when they are shit) but do well to command larger proportions of match going fans from their own cities.

Football attendance has become too regulated and restrictive.
Memberships, bans for fuck all, cost, ko times etc etc.
And, a casual fan is unable to attend legitimately without spending a fortune.

I reckon we and some other Clubs would have an extra 10k at each game if it wasn't so hard, restrictive and expensive, and if the grounds were big enough.

City sell tickets to tourists we moan. Alot of new fans will come from all over the country and be young, there for need their parents to bring them.
The difficulties in getting seats next to each other, the cost. I know City have reduced them but for a family its still alot.
New fans parents might not support City, i wouldn't take any of my lads to support dippers or rags.
Then we have the FOC's like me the thought of a 12hr round trip isn't as appealing as it use to be. More piss stops lol takes half an hour to peal myself out of the car etc.
Then I'm treated to a training game of attack v defence by a team that isn't interested in the fans enjoyment. Game after game we see this and to be totally honest it doesn't appeal to me. 12 hrs in a car, a day of work to recover, games get moved to stupid ko times. 3 out of the last 4 games we were due to attend we had to cancel due to move ko time or days moved. You sort of lose interest, feel like match going fans arent important.

Plus its hard to get tickets together and I may end up sat beside some non City tourist.

Only attend one game so far Brighton away, the big games we stand no chance, the lesser park the bus games not apeal at the moment. Im hoping the fire returns and I'll attend every match i can.

I guess City have seen a market for more fans hence the new stand.

Ramble over lol

That’s why I said “the club don’t help”. But I stand by my original point: our ticket demand should be outstripping Spurs and West Ham by miles and it isn’t.

Sure, but attendance isn't necessarily entirely reflective of demand if you consider other factors like price and how membership requirements.

Also, you would expect the fans we've picked up over the last few years to be kids, so they'll come into contention for purchasing tickets on their own in a while, rather than immediately.
