PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'm still not buying the argument that a three month hearing and a nine month wait for the award is anything other than a reflection of the number of allegations and the volume of evidence and counter-evidence that has been presented.

No-one had a problem at the time with a three month hearing. No-one at the time had a problem with a long wait for the award, even if most of us thought it would be done by now.

And, most importantly, the standard of proof required for the PL to prove its allegations is still the same as it ever was. And I can't see how they can meet that standard when we have a pretty good idea from CAS of the sort of counter-evidence the club will have presented.

Finally, the idea that the PL wouldn't proceed if they thought they weren't going to win doesn't add up in my book, either. There were plenty of other factors that could have been taken into account in the decision to refer the club to a disciplinary panel, other than just the chance of success.

All imho, of course.
I agree with all of that.

I’ve also noticed that everyone is starting to refer to the “delay” in the verdict.

There can’t be a delay because we never had a date, we have all been guessing.

I get a little annoyed when people bring Newcastle into the equation , they have done nothing in the fight against the red cartel and spuds. They could have quite easily brought some pressure against the Prem, and between City and themselves really got some changes .
As it is Only City took up the fight, and if we win then Newcastle will reap the rewards of City's war without doing anything to have those benefits. Doesn't quite sit right with me .

On the football side of things it won't make much difference, as nobody wants to go there anyway, well not many I mean

Cowardly or clever.

Yes but you’re totally ignoring what is the heart of this discussion, certainly from my point view: what is the “this”?

A series of outright lies which will be dramatically exposed whilst Manchester City ride triumphantly into the sunset placing the heads of all rival chairmen, journalists and FA executives on spikes as we go?

Or is the “this” actually some extremely creative accounting which could be found to be on the wrong side of the line? Or is it even worse?

There’s no doubt that City have enemies who have pushed this case. But that doesn’t turn into into some wild mass conspiracy which we are about to expose to the world.

If I may, you need to make your assessment allegation by allegation. It is likely there will be different judgements on each of the allegations. One of the reasons it's taking so long, I imagine.

The most serious allegations tend towards your first case, imho. Some of the minor allegations may tend towards your second but, quite frankly, I don't care much about them .... the PL won't be able to prove the most serious allegations.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right. I meant to add at the end that the truth is probably somewhere in between the two positions.

On the one hand you're agreeing that our enemies have pushed this case but on the other arguing that it's not a conspiracy.

'This' is a few things they've picked up. It's scraps they thought they could make a case out of, and I'm not even sure they were too bothered about it succeeding or not. The main concern was dragging our name through the mud for as long as they could.

The Mancini contract isn't financially material, and will almost certainly be time-barred (and the PL and their lawyers must have known that). The image rights stuff isn't financially material in the overall scheme of things, and UEFA discussed it with us back in 2015 and brought no charges. The sponsorship stuff was thrwon out by CAS and even if they accept that and are going after us because we didn't declare those sponsors as related parties, they were all fair value anyway, so had no impact whatsover on our spending. It's not fraud or grand larceny. It's peanuts and accounting interpretations. There is simply no way a clear-thinking and pragmatic organistion brings these charges without someone pressuring them.

And I've had a second, independent tip-off that the PL will come out of this very badly if and when we ever get to know what transpired.

There must be something going on behind the scenes for this to be dragging on like it is.
I really think that us and them are thrashing out compensation for us. (Remember we have done fuckall wrong apart from being run professionally and fantastic).
There is too much Radio silence going on for it to have not gone well for us. We all know that there would be leaks to the press if we'd have been done, that is a given.
Maybe Tottenham and Arsenal have been stung for a few quid from us and their executives who hot tailed it out of there said nah I'm done.

I will always be positive about the outcome as I back our owners and I back our chairman 200%. The only thing that is the negative is the dragging on of the whole process.
