PL & CL Squads (updated: Toure omitted from CL squad)

I don't see how this is a footballing move.

City are playing hardball, and I don't see what the end game is. Its illogical on all fronts. It is obvious that Yaya is not going to take paycut or miss out on his loyality bonus due at the end of the year. In this scenario city have two choices 1) Subsidize a move away from the club, and free up some of the wage bill 2) Utilize his talents at the club instead of paying him part wages to play for another team.

It appears City have chosen option 3 which is to be vindictive, keep Yaya around as a distraction without utilizing him as a footballer. This is horrible on financial level, football level, and does not help clubs reputation among players around the world.
Yaya was given the chance to leave, HE (or more likely his agent) chose to stay!!

As he's nearing the end of his career, I don't think his agent is too bothered about Yaya's best interests to be honest.

More about Seluk squeezing "every last penny that he's 'entitled to" out of City
in order to satisfy some unknown petty grievance.

I don't think that Seluk is squeezing every last penny out of us, but in fact squeezing the last penny out of Yaya. A player's career ends, an agents career does not in the same context. Seluk knows what the score is and don't bet against him not knowing what will happen in 12 months time. He knows full well what will happen and it will be the last time he earns any penny's of Yaya's name, which means he will then move onto someone else he can manage.

Good point. You're absolutely right. To be honest, I hadn't thought of it from that angle.

Kelechi doesn't qualify for the B list until January this year. (my understanding of the situation anyway)
Kelechi Iheanacho (born Oct 3, 1996) joined Manchester City's Academy on 10 January 2014 - As such he has been on City's books for 2 and a half years and is thus eligible to go Manchester City's Champions League squad B-list.

According to UEFA: http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2277105.htm
A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1994 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.
Each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season. The list must be submitted by no later than midnight CET on the day before the match in question.

His status does change on On January 10th though, he becomes eligible to be a Manchester City 'Club Trained Player' (after he reaches the age of 21).

The fact that he was put on the list as a forreign trained player tells you all you need to know about YaYa.

Yaya has clearly been told he won't be involved and has had the choice to leave, he has chosen to decline those offers.

I don't see how the situation can negatively affect the clubs reputation with players around the world. If anything it promotes our reputation, players will know they have to work their bollocks off if they want to be involved. The players who want to perceive it negatively aren't the sort of players we want at the club anyway.

So you are telling me City told Yaya here is all the money we owe, go away?

Most likely scenario is you can go for free, but you won't get your loyalty bonus.
No, I'm not, I'm saying that if Seluk really had the best interests of his client at heart wouldn't he have been better to have "met city halfway," & come to a mutual compromise that suited both parties... Thus allowing his client to move on & seek opportunities elsewhere, as a free agent, (The only drawback being of course, that at Yaya's age, they would probably be at a reduced salary, which in turn, and more to the point, would hit Seluk right where it hurts, in terms of one last big payday) rather than allowing Yaya to waste away in the reserves, running down the last year of his contract?

Yaya declined those offers because he would have to take pay cut. How would you feel if you were told you could leave but you have to leave £10M on the table? That isn't much of a choice is it?

It's going to effect the club reputation because it seems to be very vindictive to keep a player around when he is absolutely not in your plans. This would be understandable if Yaya was going to be squad player and had value to the club, but all signs point to him not getting minimal game time. You are going to pay him the full amount anyway, why not pay less for him to go somewhere, and avoid distraction + ugliness especially when its a player who has had very big influence on where the club is today?

Pep sure is one ruthless son of a gun, when required, ain't he.

Without knowing for sure, I'll guess the club would have been willing to subsidize a loan like they did for their other high wage players, but Yaya chose to stay rather than find a place where he would play more often.
