Fernando's form is improving.

No it's not, he's gone backwards. That early couple of performances that gave me some hope seem like a long time ago. Anybody who thinks he's getting better hasn't paid attention over the last couple of months.

I have paid a lot of attention to Fernando's form over the last month and although it isn't sparkling it is far from being totally shit.

If that's the biggest compliment we can give him then I think it's a pretty damning indictment.
If you can tell me what, and in which games you've seen his improvement then I'm all ears.

sorry to jump in the middle but is it really improving? he had 0 tackles v leicester last game, and even if we put stats aside, we were carved open time after time against the bottom premier league team at home

and that's all down to him isn't it? Not down to a fundamental problem with our team and system, as it's never happened when he hasn't played.

point taken, except that we are better going forward and not worse off defensively whenever fernando is replaced by fernandinho

with fernando who is a specialist defensive midfielder you would expect the defensive aspect of the game to be better.

Not if it's just a like for like swap, without any changing of the way we play. I'd expect a one man midfield to struggle defensively, regardless of who the one man is, as they'll just be chasing shadows.

He's made 28 appearances for us - the four you think he was solid in saw us getting beat by Arsenal and a sluggish below par performance against bottom club Leicester. Everton game I don't remember how he played tbh and Stoke was a much improved second half from the team after another first half which flattered to deceive.
I just don't see it with him. I hope you can come back in 12 months and laugh at me, I really do.

Thought he had a decent game today, movement, yes movement, was good, suited him playing alongside Lampard (and against 10 men), but needs some credit for his game today.

Thought he played well today, granted he'll have much harder games but he did the mopping up and passing to the more creative players well.

Thought he had a decent game today, movement, yes movement, was good, suited him playing alongside Lampard (and against 10 men), but needs some credit for his game today.

Difficult to judge against ten men as you say.

Tidy goal and his team mates looked well made up for him. Good to see.

I wonder if we could loan him to NYC for a couple of months to play with Lampard, might be the making of him, I noticed Lampard was talking to him a lot, well gesticulating anyway, perhaps he just needs to learn a bit more at PL level, and having a teacher like Lampard alongside would do him no harm at all.

He was neat and tidy today and scored so no complaints from me and I'm not a fan at all.

It's hard to really lavish praise on the back four and the midfield from a defensive point of view as they won't have an easier game that that.

We seem to struggle when teams have a go. Palace will be more of a test as they do attack quickly, especially on the break.

He was better than usual today though.

I counted his passes in the second half - out of 30 passes only 4 were forward passes! stopped counting at 30 passes as I think i got what this guy is all about.

This guy would get no where near Bayern, Real or Baraca's squad - he isn't good enough for us and never will be.
