Player thread: Fernando (2014/15)

May not have crunched into tackles but I thought he showed more aggression to get in front of his man and keep us on the attack, good positioning and better on the ball than usual. Still find it ridiculous the number of times we've tried him in a midfield 2 with Toure, if that's what we wanted we should have signed a player capable of that job.

Barely noticed him. Fernandinho had a blinder next to him though. You got a link that shows him not winning any tackles LoveCity? What about interceptions?

Do you think that is because he just did his job, allowing Fernandhino to play well ? I thought Fernando was OK today, and it allowed us to control the game apart from the first 10-15 minutes.

Fernando was ok but no more than that. We could do with an upgrade in the Summer window but he'd be a useful back up.

Some of you on here today are an embarrassment.

Not happy with a good game today and three invaluable points, you would rather nit pick and look for negatives. Some of you are fuckin helpless (bet you have a clicker for everytime Nando makes a mistake so you can make graphs).

Try getting behind the team rather than looking for cheap points because he didn't do this and should ahve done that.

No I think it's more down to Fernandinho both his own and fernando's job for him. The stats back this up. Fernando was irrelevant

Not really no - Fernandinho did his job despite having no mobility in and around him. Lampard was as guilty as Fernando for this in fairness. Today was a game won in other areas of the pitch. He was by no means terrible, just still way short in terms of overall ability. We certainly won't be winning the league next year if the plan is to play him regular.

I really want him to do well but I just don't see a high caliber player in there. I think performances like today's are as good as its going to get and just being acceptable isn't good enough.
