Player thread: Fernando (2014/15)

he just isn't good enough tbh he's a palace/stoke type of player at best...and that stat after spurs game with only 2 interceptions and 0(?) tackles is just a horror for a HOLDING MD the PL is just to fast for him to handle every player with a decent level of pace can round him like he is not there....he is a player suited for a slow style of football(italy)..people on here may not liked it but if i have to make a choise between him and garcia i'll take javi every day of the week at least he was a beast in the air and even he's read of the game was good too if someone can give us a decent offer for fernando (7-8m) just sell and go and buy schniderlin

Some people are happy with mediocrity on this forum. Open your eyes.

The way I look at it is would a player get in Madrid, Munich or Barcas squads. If we don’t sign players that would we will never get to their standard. When I say that I realise that they will always get the best above us but they can’t sign every decent player. There will always be players that don’t sign for them who we could get.

Players like Fernando keep us at the level we are at which isn’t good enough.

NO i'm not an impatient fan the fact is there for everybody to see he just isn't good enough ...if you think he is a good one and good enough for us that is your opinion and i respect it

It's not his fault - he simply isn't good enough. At least he was relatively cheap, so it isn't a huge loss but he is a downgrade on even Javi Garcia. I don't think its fair to lash out and belittle the player because I think he does try, he just isn't fast or good enough to be playing regularly in this league. We need to take a good look at our scouting and football departments for signing off on the transfer of a player so ill equipped to deal with the rigours of this league and ill-fitted to the system we play.

I don't get that analysis at all, he's easily the most powerful player we have in midfield

The entire midfield is dysfunctional at the moment because we have Yaya Toure who is the best passer we have at the club strolling around.

NO i'm not an impatient fan the fact is there for everybody to see he just isn't good enough ...if you think he is a good one and good enough for us that is your opinion and i respect it

IIRC Merlin & Vinnie were not good enough in their first seasons with us. I'm sure there are others too. My point being people seem to keen to write players off if they don't see immediate results.

c'mon really? we can't really put the blame soil on Yaya because maybe Fernando can't really do his job properly...look at the stats after the games for fernando the stats are shocking for a HOLDING md like him he is supossed to wipe everything in front of him and give the defense the cover they badly need is he doing this?? no.. i agree with you about md being a mess because apart from fernandinho the rest of them are just average...what we need to do is get rid of players like yaya and fernando and bring another1-2 players like fernandinho..having players like him in the team and especially in the MD wil make a huge diff from what we see atm and maybe the defence will be at his best again...we can argue all we want about the defence this season but as long as they have players like fernando or yaya in front of them there will always be problems and they will have to do the job of their too for example just look at kompany this season he is drag on almost in the MD to cover for the people in front of him and this is why he is having a average season has he did that when players like barry ndj or javi where in front of him? NO...that is the diff and that is about fernando just not good enough not for us and maybe not for PL.

Rather one sided and blinkered view IMO. Vinnie is having a poor season end of, not because of someone else. I would go as far to say Vinnie has been the reason others have had a poor season.

Explain that last line. Who exactly has suffered a poor season because of Kompany? Mangala? Demichellis? Clichy? Zabaleta? Kolorov? Hart? They're the only possible players you can be refering to as his position directly influences them. None of them come under that umbrella that you've plucked from your arse. Some may have had poor seasons but to put it at the door of Kompany is nonesense. Unless you're gonna go further and blame him for our midfield woes from Yaya, Fernando and Nasri?
