Player thread: James Milner (2014/15)

Always maintained I hoped and thought he would stay, nothing more than a gut feeling obviously, in part because this thread will make for some fun revision.

Fingers crossed. I wouldn't like to see him leave.

Eurgh. I hope not. Would much prefer we went out and bought two world class players to replace him and Lampard than keeping Jimmy around. The only way I can see it as being worthwhile to keep him around is if we definitely can't get De Bruyne or Sterling. If we can get either, then I reckon Jimmy should make way. Just his nationality making him such a hot commodity for us at present.

Jimmy is good player but he is someone we can improve on.

It just looks a bit desperate from us because of our need for HG players, Alex Song for example is now a target apparently because of that factor, why? He isn't good enough.

Those reported 160k a week wages we have apparently offered him are ridiculous if true.

I wouldn't be gone on Sterling at all, to be honest. All too often, there's no end product from him (a decent run followed by a poor shot or cross). Even the Liverpool fans were getting disillusioned with him, even before he started stalling on the contract negotiations. Also, for the money the scousers will be looking for for him, you'd want to be signing the finished article. Which Sterling is nowhere near at the moment.

yea your right I take it back. Apart from the offer of
a 3year deal and assurances he's a valued member of the squad oh and around 165.000 a week on the table ,fuck all really.

I've only ever seen that mentioned on here by INTK.

Sterling does seem to divide opinion, but for me he's a much better footballer than Jimmy. I'd swap the two in a heartbeat. I just can't get past how awful I think Milner's end product is. Hell Sterling is 20, playing in a wank side, and has still got 11 goals this season. How many does Jimmy have for us?

Same could be said of Mangala to be fair

Spot on there Jim. Good player but nothing special.

Other than for the sake of awards, it doesn't matter who scored the goals. A shit load of work is done off the ball to enable the goal to happen. So you're right to point out so what if Milner scores against use but wrong to have a got at him just because he doesn't score a lot of goals.

Same could be said about Milner. Only he's nearly a decade older than Sterling and past his peak. And lets be real the figures being bandied about for Milner's potential new contract - you'd rather him have that than Sterling. That just seems crazy to me. Terrible business in fact considering our problems with the squad's age profile and homegrown issues.

Milner works hard
He works hard you know
He does work hard
In fact sometime he works very hard
