Player thread: James Milner (2014/15)

great player and so underrated at city give his all for the club and played were ever the manager asked we will miss him city and its only when you start to miss players you turned to for help when injury to players start to happen you say I should have not let milner go
Just cant understand how a player everyone keep saying he is underrated is still underrated must be the most overrated underrated player in te PL. he was a goog squad player did ok since 2010 when needed time to get some better players in order to advance more good luck

Liverpool have got a good player on a free. Good for them, good for Milner and not good for us.

He will probably win a few more things as Liverpool will always be thereabouts in the cups.

However, I can't see him improving them much especially if played in the centre.

How important was James Milner to City?

We'll let Manuel Pellegrini explain:

"It would be very difficult to find a more complete player than Milner," he said in March. "There are players who are better technically. There are quicker players.

"There are players who head the ball better. But show me a player who does all the things that Milner does well and there isn’t one.

"And whatever position I put him in he plays well: at full back – which is the only place he doesn’t like playing– attacking midfield, wide, or as a striker. I used him this season as a forward and the team was scoring three goals a game.

"You leave him on the bench and he is furious, but watch him during the game, encouraging and shouting. And in the next training session he kills it for 95 minutes.

"It’s very difficult to find another Milner – an intelligent player, with big balls and a massive heart.’"

He was a workhorse and if he's leaving on good terms then why not.

Maybe Milner the menace just misses Balotelli.

not good for us....Enough said :(

He's respected his contract and his obligations at city, but has disrespected the fans in my book. We heard for months that it was about playing time, which it seems was a bare-faced lie. Got no problem with people showing bitterness towards him, nor those who still admire him for what he did.

He signed a contract and honoured it, the club offered him a new one and he decided to go elsewhere. He cant use his game time last season as a barometer for next season as we will be strengthening and he knows it. The only reason he got so much game time last season is because we had a lack of alternatives and players out of form or injured, but he's one of the few 1st team players we can easily upgrade.

I wish him well and I fully expect him to get a rousing reception from the Blue faithful when he returns.

Stay classy, we're not Gooners, we're impeccable..

He's going to miss having players around him that can control a pass with the slightest of touch and therefore make him look good. Brenda seems to be going down the English, good honest professionals route with his signings, and rumored signings - unfortunately for Jimmy, they won't be anywhere near as skilful as our foreign lads and I think he will come to miss that.

Now don't get me wrong Milner is a good player but let's not get too giddy here. Maybe Pellegrini overrated him a bit. Let's say he overrated him to the point where he thought playing him as a centre mid against Barcelona was a good idea.

Great grafter and a great professional. I wish him well. Similar to when Barry left for Everton.

You are awful, but I like you.

Good luck Jimmy. Thank you for respecting your contract. Unlike others, it seems, you fully appreciate the principles involved in the operation of a contract. And thank you for you efforts both on and off the pitch.

Haha.

He did his job, no problem with that. I more mean that I don't give two shits, he's gone and we replace him with someone better.

Sad he's gone but dont have any problems with it. I'll give him a cheer when he comes back and our superior team will defeat his, of that I'm sure.

What kind of reception do Distin and Sturridge get when they come back? They left in exactly the same sitation.

Bitterness is because he has been stringing us all along with so called different reasons. Dishonest to the end -

Totally agree.

Had he just come out months ago and said he would be leaving in the summer, that would have been fine. He's lied for months basically.
