Player thread: James Milner (2014/15)

Has all the medals and tons of money, simply wants to play central midfield. He wouldn't get into our centre midfield, nor Arsenals, so that's why its Liverpool.

Thanks for the good service James - when the autobiography comes out in a few years you'll admit this was a bad choice. Shorn of players like Aguero, Silva and Ya Ya alongside you, Id wager the game becomes a lot harder in a Liverpool shirt.

What kind of reception do Distin and Sturridge get when they come back? They left in exactly the same sitation.

I take your point on Distin, but I don't think he gets any crazy abuse on his return, we're all a bit apathetic towards him.

Sturridge? No comparison to Milner in any way, shape or form. Far younger, not in his prime and totally different attitude. He left under a cloud and rinsed the club after investing god knows how much in his development. But we still give him nowhere near the abuse that the Tarquins give ANY player who dares to leave their dahling club.

As I said, I fully expect him to get a decent reception, simply because we're just better than that..

It will be a shame to see James Milner the man move on, but I can't say I'm too disappointed to lose James Milner the footballer, never been quite good enough in my opinion. Good luck to him.

Wish him all the best, never gave less than 100% when playing and also realised his limitations. Now going from small fish in pool to big fish in pool and will end up playing out wide for Liverpool as technically not good enough to play centre of mid. He will get a nice signing on fee and be their highest paid player and this will compensate for his lack of Champions League football till the end of his career.

james milner leave to go to liverpool reminds me of the bob newhart`s (Sir Walter Raleigh`s phone call)

hi james, so you left manchester city and you joined liverpool, so lets get this right james, you though it would be better playing for a team that will probably win nothing instead of one that probably will.

If Yaya had done this people would be going ape-shit & Yaya has done 500% more for City than Milner ever has.

Ran down his contract and then signed for a near rival club on a free.

After reading it all and having it confirmed, i still cant get my head around it. This is not me being a bitter blue saying 'oh my clubs obviously the best', i genuinely dont understand why he moved.
No Champions League football, 4 places down the league, no world class players around him, a worse manager... hell be played the same amount and on the same wages...

Anyone? I just cant work it out. He must be mental.

The money (£10m signing on fee) and I'm guessing guaranteed game time = money over ambition

I think the club knew exactly how this would end and decided that they would rather keep him for one more season than spend large on some overrated homegrown player.
Anyway, now I have to rename the cat.

Exactly, in my view hes an ordinary player who struck lucky signing for City when he did. Distin got shit for doing the same thing

good luck jimmy !!

he's gone for regular starts and to play in his position - cm. Great buy for the scousers, shit that we are losing him.

he saw out his whole contract which most players never do. so what if he signed for a rival why shouldn't he ?
