Hope so. Lucky to have gotten that for him. He's a pile of wank who City fans have massively overrated based on about four games. Possibly the biggest example of selective memory and the influence of Football Manager/FIFA games that we currently have at the club, and he's done well even to get into a club like Schalke.

There's a reason he has gone to Schalke and not to Bayern Munich or Barcelona, and why Schalke have only ever won one game in which he's played.

If this is true then City inserted a clause stating that Schalke were forced to buy him if he started 5 league games for them. That should tell you everything you need to know about Nastasic.

The decision to sell this player was simply inept. He is 21, about one year older than Zouma. This player has intelligence, good positioning, proper ball control and an excellent passing range. Not a tackle and hoof player by any standard. He lacks physciallity, which a 21 year old has loads of time to develop, and he isn't quick but that did not hurt Demi's career did it?

This player was the future and we made a big mistake selling him. Don not be so confident in your belief that his sale was the right move. Consider that the same people that sold him also though 25 mil for Bony, 40 mil for Mangal and 30 mil for Dinho was great, and that Fernando was City quality. While some of these players are good, these are fine examples of bad buisness, by any standards.

Looks like his move to Schalke has become permanent after they activated a release clause:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31831197" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31831197</a>

Even though Nastasic looks like he's gone .
We still need to get rid of a few more players .

Good luck to him if/when he goes. Never rated him as highly as many on here (always felt he was too soft) and don't for a minute think his performances for us were anywhere near as good as they're often made out to have been. But he's obviously got some talent as a footballer and could do well in Germany (or back in Italy).

I think it's a good move for all concerned, but to describe him in the way you did is just unbelievable

Excellent. Bit surprised they did that after last nights performance though!

The other two centre backs were even worse than him imo, & he is still young. At leat he made a token effort when Benzema ran past him, albeit he did run in the opposite direction. They just left Ronaldo to score two free headers.

Three at the back, in Germany, to do the job of two, should be right up his alley.

Joking apart, good luck to him. He seems like a really nice lad & I hope he succeeds there & lives up to the promise some saw in him.

Reminds me of Savic to be honest.

Hope he plays some more chumps league football but lets face it Schalke are not Bayern and Boetang has been serviceable for them.

As long as he finds a league where he doesn't have to tackle or head the ball, he'll have a great time. One balkan down, 3 more to go.

Natasic was an excellent player for us prior nto his injury, why anyone would wish to describe this talented young player as a pile of wank is beyond me.
some folk have very poor/selective memories.
He was easily one of the best young defenders in the prem under mancini, at a time when we could defend, and the lad was quietly, but effectively going about his game with the composure and timing of a seasoned professional.

Thanks to homegrown regulations, we have no choice but to sell a quality player in Nastasic and replace him with a shit Belgian.
Nastasic is a major step up (from Savic) and has provided some much needed youthful competition at CB.

Did the poster who said the above massively overrate him based on about four games? Or were they an example of selective memory and of being influenced by Football Manager/FIFA games?

Seconded - "pile of wank" ffs - how analytical.

Good luck to Nasty. I think he's gone to the right league and also looks like the right club. I didn't realise that Lombardo was there - makes sense now why he plumped for Schalke.

Difficult to know what to make of him as a player. At one point I thought he was the real deal. Latterly though, especially the few odd chances he got under Pellegrini, he looked not cut out for the way we wanted to play. Still think he can go on and have a fantastic career and it's a shame it didn't work out for him at City.

Think Damo saying he was wank is way harsh. Even if he isn't the second coming of Maldini that some think he is/could be, he isn't wank.

Unbelievable quote - it's less than two full seasons ago that this kid made his debut in the Bernabeu against Real Madrid and played all season as Kompany's partner in a defence which only conceded 34 league goals all season - comfortably the best in the league.
If you genuinely think that letting a 21 year old with a proven season behind him go for around 10 million euros, then spending four times as much on a player four years older (and who's looked anything but convincing yet) is good business in a season when we've been hamstrung by FFP, then you truly are delusional - short memories indeed !

To put it into context, Mangala's fee would've bought Alexis Sanchez !! Anybody on this forum not think we lack width ???

Is there a centre back on earth that actually looks good the way Pellegrini wants to play?

It's fair to say all of Kompany, Mangala, Demichelis, Lescott and Nastasic have suffered under this tactic - with Martin the only one who's ever really looked close to comfortable.

You don't become PL champions with the 2nd best defensive record in the league without having defenders who can defend and a system which is as efficient defensively as it is offensively.

I'm not ignorant enough that I believe that changing somebody's mind over time is somehow a weakness or an inconsistency. It's almost as if opinions are formed on events and the passage of time between two statements may have contained events that influenced thinking in a certain direction isn't it?

Only the stupidest of the stupid have consistent opinions spanning many years without revisiting them. This shouldn't be a source of pride for people.

£6.9m!! Doesn't seem enough. If it had been Chelsea selling him they would have got £20m, no idea how they do it but they get great prices for their offloads whereas we seem to get peanuts.
