Love Sami but don't see him as a captain. I always thought he had balls, right from the 2011-12 season on. He didn't always know how to play with Merlin, but he's learnt as he's gone on.
Potential captains in my book: Zab, Hart, even MDM. Vinny is obviously our main man, but I wonder whether it would take the pressure of him in this, a poorish season by his standards, to just be played without having that responsibility. On the other hand, he might react badly.
Funnily enough, I don't really see Yaya as a natural captain, although he does captain his country.

Hart is so far removed from being any type of leader.

Doesn't even speak to the defenders in front of him and if he can get through a game, hiding, he will happily take it.

I'd have agreed with Zabba, but he looks burdened enough, and I don't think MDM will be around for much longer.

Kompany is an amazing captain.
Has the full respect of the club, the players, the management and the fans.
An injury and loss of form for a few months and your giving us candidates to replace him???

Bizzare topic.

As for Nasri, hes in the Yaya, Aguero and Silva bracket for me. Huge loss when hes out injured.

The only thing bizarre is your reply or any need to have a sly dig.

Silva has the full respect of the club, the players, the management and fans, doesn't make him captain material, and we have since discussed the more likelier option of the vice-captaincy.

For the record, Kompany's injuries and loss of form go back at least 18 months.

One of the biggest WUM threads I’ve ever seen in my 10 + years on here

Re: Nasri - make him our captain

Just come across this article that has come out today where Nasri refers to himself as a 'jerk' so I think that puts this debate to bed as to whether he would be a good captain - think he has answered the question for you....

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2015/02/12/8857112/nasri-sometimes-i-am-a-little-jerk?CMPID=TWUK_150212_nasrijerk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/pre ... _nasrijerk</a>

Re: Nasri - make him our captain

I agree that Nasri should be a candidate for Captain or at the very least Vice Captain.

He is a leader. Just watch him on the pitch. I think he is a great guy who has had the balls to really look at himself in the mirror. There are few people who do this. He is also a very gifted player who has a big influence on games.

As for Vinny. He probably shouldn't be getting in the team right now. His performances this season have been shocking and have cost us.

You sure about that?

On the contrary, he's saying he has no issue telling it how it is, regardless of being unpopular, and how he has moved on from his younger days.

It didn't make Terry any worse captain, isn't it?

Nasri is, what we Bosnians call "ters", passionate in what he wants to prove, is the closest I could come with explanation.
For me, there is no player with more winner mentality in our team than him and Zaba.

You're right, it was a sly dig but only because of the topic stupidity i felt you deserved one.
If Kompany gets man of the match next week and gives a good interview after and Nasri plays bad and gets sent off will we still having this chat? So short sighted. 18 months????? No No No.
We have probably the best captain in the league.
