Whenever I see Pellegrini pulling someone to one side, it is always Nasri he is passing the instructions to.

That may be because Pellegrini is reminding Samir what he needs to do ;)

I understand your reasoning regarding the captaincy issue but applying some of those key reasons that you refer to, Silva is a better candidate, in my opinion. Silva has cojones, he's driven, tells others what he wants them to do and doesn't appear shy in telling others what they did wrong. I would also guess that he is highly regarded among his team mates. He also appears to have a more resilient character than Nasri.

I am not suggesting we should make Silva captain but I would suggest he is a better candidate than Nasri.

I slagged this guy off for over 18 months because he simply flattered to deceive and always took the safe option in my opinion. He's proved me badly wrong.

He has been superb for over 12 months, although his technical prowess has never been in question.

For me, he is now showing all the hallmarks of being a proper captain. He is thriving with the responsibility of being one of our main go-to guys in the last year.

He's a winner, he speaks passionately and candidly about the club and the team, he tells it how it is.

It's a decision that would surely never be made, because Komps is the figurehead, but I feel Nasri is more of a natural leader than him because he doesn't try to be someone he isn't, whereas, I feel Komps has become slightly effected and pays lip-service to the role, and it subsequently impacts performance?

Nasri is a bad loser and has the street fighting smarts of the ports of Marseille to back up is talent and mouth.

At very least, would Blues consider him a decent vice-captain, in light of the new contract he signed last year?

Regardless, Nasri deserves huge credit for turning his City career full circle and proving clowns like me wrong.
For me both him and silva need to add a little more consistency to there game which will see them popping up with bigger numbers in goals and assists.

Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material

Cant see komps ever having the armband taken away from him but can see Nasri becoming vice captain sometime in the future.

I still think he takes the safe option far too often Tolm. Lets be honest, his goal last night where has picked the ball up in the middle of the park, driven forward, beating men and smashing it in from 20 yards isn't the norm. if he had taken 6 touches to move 5 yards and then played a 3 yard pass to Silva, that would have been the norm.

I like Nasri, he is a very good player but for actual contribution in terms of goals/assists for an attacking player he doesn't produce what someone of his ability should. On this basis I think you will find as many City fans who would happily replace him as would make him captain!

this is true

there are two sides of Samir Nasri. The one who takes responsibility and drives on (like Roma, yesterday, even Everton at home where he was bloody commited) and the one who is laid back, always taking the safe option and generally not influencing play in a visible manner

the former is what we need. the latter is what we see too often for my liking

This is a bizarre way to answer to the OP with an off-topic subject, yet, even if you are entitled to your own opinion by your own rights,
facts and statistics prove you wrong, way wrong.
Last season Nasri was leading the league as most creative midfielder with most chances created:

Is it not what you mainly ask for a creative midfielder to deliver ?

Now back to topic.
I also think that he is captain material.
Since Pellers' gesture, Nasri showed from day-one that he was his corporal on the pitch.
Not only do you see him give tactical directions to his comrades, but the hunger he shows for victory ( and the frustration that comes without it )
is second to none.
He thrives for great achievements.
And what about his talking : the most honest and least double-speaking i have seen from a player since ages.
You got my vote.

“From time to time, I'm a jerk,” Nasri said in an interview with L’Equipe 21.

“Sometimes it is better to buckle but it is something I can't do.

“I managed when I was younger and sometimes I went home with a knot in my stomach. Afterwards, you go off, but not with the right person.

“I’d therefore prefer to say everything I think, even if it means I'm not liked, even if it means I sound arrogant and a little prick. At least the folk I do like don't have to suffer.”

I'm warming to him....;-)
Sounds like my kind of guy tbh.

He is, without a doubt, one of the most intelligent members of our squad. I think he'd make great company over dinner. I also think he 'gets' the club.

I think making him skipper would be too fraught with risk, however, not least because of the effect that stripping the captaincy could have on Kompany and his acolytes within the dressing room. It's not like he hasn't delivered the goods since he got the job in the summer of 2011.

That said, there are established players within the squad far less suited for the role than Nasri and there have been players in our past who have held that position who have been less equipped for the job too eg Redmond, Tevez, so not the worst suggestion I've ever heard by a long stretch.

I heard recently Lescott talking really highly of Tevez as a Captain which surprised me if i'm honest - it was when he was choosing his 1 to 11 on the Fantasy Football Show on Sky Sports

Silva would need to overtly demonstrate a better command of English for that to be the case.

In the spirit of multiculturism, maybe the team should learn Spanish
