Re: Nasri - future captain/vice captain material
Interesting topic in my opinion and the thought of Samir Nasri as captain or vice captain has never really entered my thoughts. Personally, I agree to a certain degree. He has the type of attitude that I like from a person, not scared to say what he feels whether it goes against the grain or not and has a winning mentality.
However, he needs to be a bit more influential on the pitch for me. He's a classy player and probably one of the most intelligent players in our squad, he rarely gives the ball away but he does take the safer option in general and for me a captain has to be a bit more brave, be willing to take a risk now and then in order to produce something critical in a game. He hasn't done that anywhere near enough in a blue shirt for me.
Maybe giving him the vice captaincy might encourage him to believe that it's his responsibility to be braver and take a few more risks and that in turn may produce more goals/assists which are obviously the best way that a creative midfielder can have a huge and significant influence on a game. If he'd have come to us and scored goals like he did when he was at Arsenal then I think there'd be far more blues open to Nasri being considered for the role.
I agree with the OP on Kompany not being a natural leader too. This season in particular I've walked back to town after the game on a few occasions saying, there seems to be a lack of leadership. I love Vinny but he's too nice a bloke to be a natural captain, but he fit's the image of a captain very well.
