Player thread: Vincent Kompany (2014/15)

Another non story from our friends in the gutter press. A simple case of Vinny being frustrated at his own form and reacting in a different manner. In the past he has been able to lead from the front as he had the respect of everyone including those not associated with City because his own form was outstanding. When you find yourself struggling it becomes harder to demand others to go the extra mile. This last few weeks have been a test for the Manager and in some ways how he deals with the last stages of this season will have a great bearing on the future or to be more precise his future.

same old , same old , the mirror getting quotes from an "insider" at the club , seem to remember the same mirror tactics before the wigan FA cup final , and it had the desired effect. VK has recieved a far amount of criticism on this thread , partly unfair in my opinion ,you have to take into consideration that he plays in a different back four every week , and sometimes even the keeper has been rotated, there is no continuity and this has affected the whole defence , not just vinny. All successful teams have a solid back four that plays week in , week out , barring injuries and suspensions , (the chavs are unfortunately an example) maybe some of the blame should be laid at the managers door. If MP played zabs,vk,mdm, clichy until the end of the season , there would be an improvement over the next dozen games

We could see something was wrong that Sunday we played Liverpool .
Anyway i couldn't really give 2 hoots that Kompany had a bust with another City player .
The thing i like about Kompany is that he cares when he knows he isn't playing well .

Correct. HOWEVER, if you are the Captain, the team's leader, and your teammate tells you need to up your game, concentrate more or whatever you do not react with "Nobody tells me what to do," or similar words and then turn on the other players.

That is horrible leadership, if the story is to be believed. This, of course, is just one man's opinion.

Where did you get the direct quotes from ?

If I'd have been Kompany and Fernandinho had said that to me after allowing the Liverpool midfield the freedom of Anfield, I'd have given him a slap the cheeky twat.

Fixed. Thank you.

What went wrong for us was Kun hitting the bar when 7 times out of 10 he would have slotted that shot home and Silva shooting with a club foot when placing it ala Newcastle in virtually the same position with the goal keeper in the same position albeit an extra defender visi a vis Newcastle putting some pressure on him the release the shot a tad earlier than he would have liked.

That combined with two excellent strikes from Henderson and Coutinho buried us in a second half that we didn't boss as much as we would have liked but still fluffed our lines in fornt of goal.

I thought out second half was ordinary but lets be honest what did Joe have to do other than take the ball out his net once.

We played far worse collectively against Hull, Stoke (home) , CSKA home and away , Burnley , Sunderland, Newcastle ( LC ) , Boro to name a few.

These are the games that piss me off more than the Liverpool loss , we had little intensity for large parts of those games and again defensive frailties cost us dearly.

You should work for the mirror, they'd like that made up effect.

That's a bit naive imo:
1. Vinny hasn't been as bad as some are making out. He's been terrible since he returned from injury, he loses the ball as last man at least twice every game.
2. The relationship between manager and captain is key at any football club. and if your captain is the type to see his arse over being dropped and turn on the manager, you need a new one.
3. Vinny has been immense for us and has earned some loyalty from manager and fans alike. Loyalty, love and respect, but not an automatic starting spot.
4. Vinny is one of only two or three of our squad worthy of a place in the starting line-up of the likes of Barce, Madrid and Munich, so we need to be very careful about unsettling him. not at the moment he's not, plus see answer 2.
5. Who do we want leading us out at the Nou Camp? an in form and focused Vinny, if we can't have that I'll be happy to see MDM and Mangala starting and one of Hart/Zaba/Yaya as captain.

If Vinny doesn't play in the Nou Camp i'd personally make MD captain in a heartbeat but sadly I think it'll be Toure. If ever there was an awful captain/vice captain it's him.

Might well be Hart...
