Player thread: Vincent Kompany (2014/15)

Hollywood Defending is an excellent term to describe my issues with Kompany when we go down in a game, and why I'd like a calmer captain.

This doesn't make him a bad defender obviously, just somebody whose leadership style isn't really what our squad seems to need.

Vincent Kompany will go down as the most successful captain the club has ever had , and the posts on here deriding his captaincy will be looked at in the future ,with mirth and hilarity , because they have no substance. A few supporters opinions criticising him for a temporary loss of form , against pundits , fellow professionals , and football experts who recognise that VK is one of the best defenders and captains of his era , let the few continue their vitriolic ramblings , because the huge majority of our supporters appreciate VK and what he has done for our club. Heres to you Vincent Kompany..............................

I think the £1.2 billion pound spent on the club whilst he has been here might have a bit more to do with it than Vincent Kompany's leadership style.

He's a paid employee of the club. We pay him £200,000 a week or thereabouts to play football for us whilst we're competing in the top competitions in the game. He isn't doing us any favours.

As I said earlier, when we're using logical arguments and most of the ones against are using emotional arguments then it's something that I think probably has a good chance of being accurate

So your assessment of our recent players and clubs achievements is based solely on a players salary and how much the club has spent , put your fishing tackle away , your becoming tiresome.

The assessment is that Kompany has slowly morphed into Titus Bramble over the pass 18 months. Does he even smile anymore constantly has a face like a smacked arse and as the captain it's wrong!

No. I have no idea how you could possibly invent that

I noticed you didn't bold this phrase mainly because it's true.

Every second thread I read you're either belittling someone or fishing. Poor behavior for someone with Mod status.

The only reason kompany is having a poor season is because of the managers incompetence and the zero protection in front of him from midfield. Add in the awol full backs and no one could look good. Demechilis makes just as many clangers as does mangala, zabba and the two left backs. Bear in mind these same defenders were part of the best defence in the premiership for 2 of the last 3 seasons and it Kind of suggests it's not all the defenders fault.

Have you ever considered that I actually have a different opinion from you on a variety of subjects? Opinions that I explain at great length and show the logic for to anybody who asks, and then debate the points back and forward with the people who want to?

Of course not, because would you mean that you might have consider that YOUR opinion isn't actually correct or factual and is instead just an opinion. Far easier to live in confirmation and slag everybody else off as a WUM.

Well done for turning this pretty civil discussion into a personal slanging match by the way. You've really added to the debate here. Next time PM me or keep it to yourself.

It's difficult to take anyone seriously that quotes Kompany's salary at 200k a week.
