Not convinced by Kolorov at all. For his size he does not win the ball in the air, he is not the best tackler and he lacks the pace that full backs need. Yes, he has a decent delivery/cross on him, but the attributes I look for in a fullback he lacks. We have performed well defensively as a unit over the years in spite of Kolorov not because of Kolorov. I lost count yesterday at the amount of times that Ottomendi was pulled from left side CH to cover at left back for Kolorov. I think Kolorov is 2nd only to Yaya in lack of effort tracking back and he's a defender. As a squad player I think he has value, but I don't think he would make any of our title challengers first team, whereas players like Hart, Kompany, Ottamendi, Silva, Fernandinho, Yaya (in the right system) KDB Sterling (?) and Aguero all would. Of our FBs Zabba, Sagna and Clichy all have their strengths and weaknesses, however I would have all of them in my team over Kolorov. Let's not forget Kolorov cost us 16-18mln. More than double the other three combined...so it's not like he was cheap. We paid good money for a LB that has been serviceable. A great LB he is not.

Kolarov is crucial to the way we attack especially at home against teams that defend deep. He wins more than his share of headers. Clever at winning free kicks and whilst not the greatest defender has improved that aspect of his game over the years. He missed a pen, big deal.

The way I saw it Kolorov was covering Ottamendi who was going out wide with Gerome

How can anyone take seriously the opinions of a fan who can't even spell a players name !? As for " does not win the ball in the air " he did it on three or four occasions yesterday alone ! Football is played on the ground not in the air !

I'm not sure where that comes from, he makes some very good defensive headers at set pieces. Also you and others may prefer Clichy at LB but going by last season Pellegrini is less convinced and seems to prefer Kolarov's attacking qualities in what is after all a primarily attack-based system.

He's a defender who has a lack of speed, athleticism and mobility,he also lacks positional sense, loses his man, and, more often than not,he isnt commitment in the challenge - not exactly desirable attributes when we play teams that are capable of pressing us and putting us on the back foot.
As for his wand of a left foot,i wont deny the fact its a fantastic weapon when we are bossing games, on the attack and at set pieces, but the negatives, including his faux hardman 'i love myself' personality, far outweigh the positives for me.

Aleks has improved a lot in the air over the last 15 months. Before then he used to leave the aerial challenges to Vinny, Joleon and Micah (when he played)!

Not sure about that, from where I sat Ottamendi was the only one actually making block tackles rather than Alex's propensity to shuffle back and let players run at him. We won that is about the only thing we can all agree on - let's hope for a decent result in Spain on Tuesday then it will have been an excellent few days no matter who plays. With the break all should be fit and ready to take off!

I like summing it up as, "he's fucking wank". ;-)
