Ive always said that Colin Bell was the best player ever to play for City. Today I have changed my view.

At the risk of coming off like a whopping cock, a good game against Villa isn't going to change my opinion on Silva in any huge way (For the record, I think he's marvellous). He needs to step up and start running our champions league games, because for all those questioning why he isn't spoke of in the same vein as Xavi and Iniesta, the CL is the sole fence left to clear. If we went and won the CL with him scoring in the final, he would be up there, no question. Doing well against Villa.. And people are surprised why he gets less recognition?

We at no point in our short CL history, have ever been, head and shoulders the best side in Europe, with the best player on the planet in our side. Xavi and Iniesta both were part of that Barcelona team. Replace Iniesta with Silva and nothing much really changes, apart from the fact people would regard Silva as the best attacking midfielder of this generation.

Also opinion isn't just being based on this one game, for the last 12+ months he's been better than Iniesta, he's IMO been far and away the best player of his type in Europe. Have a look over on RedCafe, even Utd fans regard him currently to be the best around, performing better than Iniesta etc...

Great performance today , Merlin is on a different planet , best midfielder in the world.
Best attacking midfielder in the league on his day but not midfielder for sure. Silva is abysmal at defending. When he drift inside as he frequently does, he leaves that side exposed and in addition doesn't cover well. That's why many teams concentrate their attack on his side, leaving clichy or kolarov to fend off rapid counterattacks. It has cost us a few times already. When he does defend, one on one, his small stature and lack of physicality hinders his ability to win the ball, as opposed to say Milner.

I think MP should just play him at his best position of AM or just behind the striker although his finishing needs improving. That way his lack of defensive work will not hurt us as much

Steady on Jimmy lad, anyone else thought he was marvelous all overthe field ? Saw him make one fantastic tackle on a Villa player was on our 18 yard box.

I think we're world beaters and 'not quite there' when it suits us to be honest. Beat Liverpool = We're conquering Europe, this is our season. First CL match against Bayern = Nope, still short. Facts as far as I can see is that we haven't stamped our authority on a single European crunch match, and Silva being one of our best players is pivotal to that effort. Of course it isn't just him, but as I said, don't be surprised that he isn't getting that high profile recognition when he isn't making the difference in the high profile games.

Has a song for him been decided? Felt sorry for him today as he walked off. We were still celebrating Yaya's goal that we didn't get to appreciate his performance!

Sounded like the Ole ole song got a few cracking renditions today, for about 10 mins early on and again early sec half.

Not before time.

Ole ole David Silvaaaaaa

Him Kompany, Aguero Yaya and Zaba, words cant describe them, but I think he just shades it. It will be a sad sad day when one of them departs. I fucking love this team. Enjoy him whilst you can blues.

Think we should have a David silva day too, time to show him our appreciation, flags etc.

Wish he was ours. An absolute joy to watch - would have taken him and still take him over Iniesta always. How wrong I was to suggest Mata was his level!

Suck it up raggy, he's blue and will stay blue until he retires.
