I agree. I've been really impressed with Demi this season and he certainly didn't deserve to be dropped the way he was playing in the league but I think he is finished at CL level.

I'm not being dramatic, flapping, or knee jerking, but I think the game on Sunday might well decide the title. If they win they go 8 points clear, and I can't see a Mourinho side letting that slip. If we win it puts up two points behind them after a much trickier start which could give us the momentum.
When Van Persie scored that free kick against us in the 2012/13 season I thought it was pivotal, and so it proved, Sunday has a similar feel about it. Fingers crossed, Mangala could be the difference maker for us.
I very much doubt he will start him against Chelsea. Probably against Sheff. Wed. in the cup.

Explain how hes "Finished", because from where I watched the game last night he was a rock, he handled the threat of Lewandowski fantastically, he played the ball out well and was imperious alongside Kompany.

Absolutely agree with all of that. At times he looks more assured than Vinnie. I also would wager that Vinnie is learning from the old dog.

Surely not, but can Demichelis play 3 big games in a week at 33 years old?
Nothing wrong with Demichelis' performances, it's just 3 games in a week would be a lot to ask at his age.

DeMichelis was excellent last season. Lescott and Nastasic were less so than in previous years because their game is not suited to high line, pressing football. Too often their lack of pace / strength was exposed in Pellegrini's system, particularly on the counter attack.
I believe the number one reason we bought Mangala, and spent nearly all of our summer budget on him, was because his speed and strength would leave us less vulnerable to the counter attack.
If I was to pick one game in a season where we are likely to have to face a strong threat from a counter attack, it would be Chelsea at home. This game could define the season.
DeMichelis has been excellent again so far, but if Mangala could play only one game for us this season, I'd pick him to play against Chelsea at home. His pace leaves us less vulnerable to the counter, and his physicality is capable of nullifying Costa, who is their main goal threat.
I appreciate as others have said, it is far from ideal, he has had no game time with the other defenders, played no minutes in the league. It would have been perfect if he'd been slowly introduced and was fully up to speed in time for the Chelsea home game.
Unfortunately we are where we are, and personally I think it's a risk worth taking to start him on Sunday.

Now does he risk an untested against the strongest team in the prem at the moment on sunday which is a must win game...
Baffling...
