just not good enough he looks so clumsy on the ball just like lescott....giving them the ball it's like giving them a fucking bomb they can't wait to get rid of it

Unfair on Lescott that- he could defend , this fucking idiot can't, he's just short of a red nose and a squirty flower in his lapel.

Get the cheque book out for Stones city

Mangala has the occasional good game but he's not a top defender and there are no signs he will develop to the level we're heading for IMO.
At his worst he is clumsy like Bambi on ice. He has straight line speed but he is mentally slow to react and anticipate danger. His distribution is average and he has yet to score despite his physique for set pieces.
Today he looked like a rugby player with poor footballing skills. At this level the booking he justly got was embarrassing as he didn't need to go to ground. Having said that with better timing he could have cleanly and fairly won the ball and left the opponent on the ground.
The Swansea goal was the last straw for me as Mangala should have used his anticipation, speed and timing to either win the ball or block Gomis.... he did neither, and for that reason he's fired for me.
For next season
CBs A fit Kompany, Otamendi, Denayer and Pep's choice e.g Stones.

Isn't he right footed? in which case that wouldn't work.

Can you list the mistakes, as I missed most of them.

I may at a later stage put myself through the pain of watching the game back so I can list them all, but from memory:
1. The goal, obviously
2. Extremely clumsy tackle for his yellow card.
3. For the chance where Joe had to come off his line as Gomis was running onto the chipped through ball, Mangala didn't track the run and instead ran towards the passer, but then stopped, so as the ball was chipped, he was in no-man's land,
4. For their first one-on-one chance, he rushed out of the back line with absolutely no hope of nicking the ball which left a huge gap, which was duly exposed.

Those are four that spring to mind. In the same game. There were others, too, mostly due to his inability to read the game and get himself in the best possible defensive position.

I have tried to give him time, but I'm afraid to say that I don't think he will ever be a world-class centre back, and I'm not even sure he will ever be a particularly good centre-back. He just has no tactical intelligence whatsoever. Borderline negligence from our scouts.

C'mon malg. He loses track of runners over his shoulder every single time he plays and today cost us a goal. His positional awareness is nowhere near what it should be considering he's meant to be an international footballer. He gets dragged into areas that he doesn't need to be in and his composure on the ball is awful. Other than that he's great...

Just played back the swans game , and i focused on Mangala , his positional sense is non existent , he cannot control a ball first time , he follows the player and not the ball every time , he has no idea how to read a game , my grandson is becoming a decent centre half , if i wanted to show him how not to defend, i would tell him to watch Mangala for 90 minutes .
If he starts against the Gurners , we will have to score half a dozen to get a point , my sympathy goes to ottamendi , he is continually covering for Mangala's infantile defending , Adarabioyo or Sagna need to partner Otto , because they really couldnt do any worse , than the headless chicken in the No. 20 shirt.

It's a concern with the injury record of Kompany that we are going to have to rely on him and demichellis too often. They both have so many errors in them it's untrue. That challenge on the touch line when the Swansea player was going nowhere was unbelievably poor. He was at fault for the goal and it's not for the first time this season. If Kompany is out for much of the season and we have to play him regularly then the forwards are going to have to score a lot of goals because we will be conceding.

It's obvious mate that Vinny can't play more than half a dozen games without relapsing - we need 4 quality CB's as Vinny (injuries) and Mangala ( a baby elephant running round looking for its mother) can't be relied on. Vinny is right footed so Stones would be a shoe in, Denayer should also be made a permanent squad member also for next season.

Stones, Otimendi, Vinny and Denayer please. You could even play a three at the back with a combination of that player.

343 which Pep has used at Bayern

Mangala is so out of his depth it's ridiculous. Can't see us getting stones in January but we should be in for a top CB in Jan and maybe Stones in the Summer. Mangala and MDM not good enough. Kompany never fit.
